Backing Up Blu Ray to external drive on PS3

I am posting this after reading countless threads and guides. Up to this point I have been ripping my personally owned blu ray movies to 19-20 gig mkv files and putting them on a NTFS formatted drive and streaming them to my PS3 via PS3 media Server on my laptop. All is well, sorta

I would like to do away with the whole streaming thing; I want to play hi-def movies directly from an external USB drive connected to my PS3 if possible. I understand the PS3 doesn't like NTFS external drives and so I am limited to files < 4 gig. This is fine except I want to queue up the movie on my PS3 and watch it from start to finish. I don't want to manually play mulitple files to watch one movie and I don't want to compress and lose video quality. I don't mind having 5*4gig .xxx files for a single movie as long as it gives me blu ray quality and plays from start to finish.

So what are people doing to accomplish this? If possible I would like to avoid loading another O/S but if that is the only way then so be it.

I'm fairly sure there's an option to play files sequentially so that should cover what you're asking about... I think? I might not be following you :P

Shokz is correct - there is an option to play multiple files somewhere.

If you create a playlist and add files to it,it will play them all without you having to do anything else.

Follow the link, there is an excellent app and guide for exaclty what you want to accomplish. Basically like watching an untouched BD (main movie only, no menus/features) from an external FAT32 drive hooked directly to your PC.
