The new 360 ExtractorUSB I personally haven't used, but I think it's a nice tool for people that basically need it for a one time use. It's better then coughing up $35-$45 for the Pro Version of the xtractor and the spear!

I don't see why it wouldn't work. It saves the process of you having to buy the Pro set and connecting to Serial and all that. With just that tool, you just connect to USB.

Alright, my friend has the CK3 with probe, and successfully flashed his Lite-On this morning. About 12 hours after he did so, I took mine over there to be flashed, and we kept getting the bad serial data warning.
We have done everything this thread says, including playing with the drive half closed part, and after about an hour, still nothing. Any Ideas? We were getting the good status LED and all, same as we did his, just not getting a good key off of it.

make sure hes got the correct com port selected. it could be set to default to the serial data cable instead of USB or vice versa. mines defaulted to serial data and i use USB. so i had this error until i realized that. if that doesnt help, then i dont know what to say.

We checked and double-checked. He only has three Com ports and we tried with all of them. Also tried with all of the I.O ports just in case that would make a difference.
Would it be worth my while to get the Maximus USB Xtractor and give it a try myself? No offense to him but his setup is chaotic, lol.
Is there a different success rate for Serial Vs. USB?
And atleast with my setup, I know I would have the right Com port selected, I don't have any right now, so the USB Xtractor would be the only one.

why dont you just try it on your pc? and to answer about the usb thing, i dont know, never used one, i just use my maximus with the spear and havent had a problem with it via mini-usb instead of the serial data port.

Well the reason why I mentioned that his setup is chaotic, is that I wouldn't doubt if he messed something up somewhere along the lines. And my computer doesn't have any molex connectors and is a slimline so its a general pain in the ass, lol. I flash the other there drive brands but really want to get a POS computer to use just for that so I don't have to mess with the slimline to do it.
And I think it would be worth it to get one if it works, as I flash for other people periodically.

right, makes sense to me. however, if your slimline has a spare sata power slot, then you can just get a sata to molex power adapter and go that way. but its off to bed for me.

Alright, thanks for the help. And it doesn't, only has two sata power ports and two sata ports, lol, one for HDD, one for Disk Drive.
how is modchipcentral.com for delivery? Fairly quick? I'm hoping to have it by wed. by the latest. Is that too much to ask?

i think it took them 3 business days for mine to arrive, i live in central indiana so it wasnt the shortest distance to travel.

Ok cool cool. I ordered that. And I just re-formatted my computer back to Windows XP. I was going to anyways, this just rushed it a bit lol

i used to use xp for flashing then i upgraded to vista and its exactly the same, although i do have to run jungle flasher in 'ADMINISTRATOR' for it to work correctly, have you tried that? i have only seen bad data box pop up when i had wrong com port selected.

O__O nope I completely forgot to try that! Shoot. Too late now lol oh well. I've already ordered the part. Even if I could get the part I already have to work, this new part will be nice :) lol
