After following this guide I'm wondering what files I can delete off my SD card to free up some space?

Another question, is there anyway to install wad games (WiiWare/VC) to the sd card? They are auto installing to my wii onboard memory and I don't have much left..

I really would appreciate an answer to a question I posted earlier, sorry if it's a bit basic...

Is this process reversable? Ie can I remove this from the wii and go back to how it was (say if a waranty repair is required) If so how would I do this?

Things you need:

Wii System with 4.0 firmware (If your firmware is 3.4 or below then update to 4.0 firmware.

I'm confused by this. Did you quote yourself? And then reply to yourself?

A great deal of this stuff is reversible but I'm not sure to which extent you are talking.

I am not brave enough to say that you can hack your Wii and then return it to a state where it's impossible to know that anything has been done to it. There are likely methods that Nintendo could use that no one knows about. Maybe it's different with different Wiis. It's very hard to know.

With that being said,

Stuff on your SD card isn't really on your Wii. You can take it off of your card and then it's gone.

Hidden channel (DVDx) can be uninstalled using the same installer that you used to install it. Just choose uninstall
Anytitledeleter can also be used to remove quite a few things including DVDx.

Wads can be uninstalled using Wad Manager.
cIOS can be uninstalled using the installer that came with it.

As you know, whatever you play is recorded in your daily play history.
Homebrew Channel and whatever you other channels you might have (Backup Launcher etc) are recorded there as well. Which is why you may want to disable sending your play history to Nintendo in the Nintendo channel. Honestly it doesn't really make a difference. They haven't done anything about it and probably don't care.
It's logical that all this data would be gone if you were to use the Format Wii Memory option in the Settings menu but I can't say for sure since I've never done it.

A clear sign that a Wii has been hacked would be a Wii with different (low) version IOSes on something like a 4.0 system menu or a patched IOS60. These can be upgraded back to their "official" versions.

So in conclusion you can pretty much get a system back to a pretty non hacked state. I just don't have the knowledge to say that you can make it impossible for Nintendo to notice.

It may also depend on how determined Nintendo is to notice. With all the hacking going on they are a lot more aware of stuff that is going on. There have been stories of people who badly hacked their Wii but since they didn't really care then, they didn't really check to see what the real cause of the damage was. Likely not so now.

May be a dumb question, but do you have to run the downgrader everytime you update cIos's? Just asking because in the guide it comes after all the cIos installations. Thx

All the cIOS installations?
cIOS is only installed once.

And no you don't have to use IOS downgrader after upgrading cIOS.
IOS and cIOS are different.
cIOS is updated over the last one since they all install to IOS249.

If you run IOS downgrader after upgrading to 4.0 you should have to run it again until another update comes out.

If you run it before upgrading to 4.0 then you just wiped out the IOS downgrade.

@teegale

You can delete cIOS38_rev13, cMIOS_rev3, IOS Downgrader, IOS60patched.wad and USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad.

You can move WiiWare and VC games to your SD Card by going to the channels data management. Make sure you MOVE (do not copy) the channels to the SD Card.

@johnyb62

How I understand it there will always be bits and pieces left even if you try to undo the softmod. As for how to do it I have never tried but I know there are those that have and ended up bricking their systems. So before you try to undo it make sure you know what your doing.

I have no idea what your talking about.

As I said if you want help with the guide then follow it. If you don't want to follow it then find another guide or start a new thread. I am not about to go off on a different route just because you don't want to update.

This will only confuse users more when they read past post. So get over yourself and find a different guide or start a new thread if you don't want to follow this one.

No it shouldn't take but a few minutes.

Go ahead and turn off the system.

Use your PC and make sure the USB drive is formated FAT16 or FAT32 and make sure it is set up as a primary partiton. You can do this under Administrative tools/disc managment.

After you do that download and install the WBFS Manager that I have linked in the guide. Use that aplication to partiton the USB drive to WBFS.

Keep in mind not all USB devices are comaptible. What is the brand or model# of the USB Device?

I have updated the guide to include cIOS38_rev12b which is supposed to fix some bugs (I would guess the #002 error). It will install over the previous cIOS36/38 revisions.

You need to use the WiiGator backup launcher to launch your backup games. Not the normal Wii disc channel.

This guide works just great !!! Thanks for alll the hard work!

Only thing I now want to do is play DVD's on this, so I installed the homebrew browser, and installed DVDX (or something) through that, but they will not play. Any ideas?

This link, http://wiibrew.org/wiki/DVDX, suggests I should use the BootMii installer but I wanted to check this is compatible with this guide?

If you want help on playing DVD's please start a new thread or look for a guide on how to do it and ask there. I am trying to limit the post to the guide itself.
