Wiimote don't work with Bootmii. You need a GC control or to use power and reset buttons on wii (if installed as boot2). Check the faq on bootmii site.

Excellent...thanks everyone for all your help...I have bootmii as ios so power reset won't work....the sound issue had to be the game or burn...another game worked fine.

I will try the boot2 option...or just leave as is...as the games load great in the loader.

Maybe we should add to the guide about the bootmii and controller issues.

Either way...great guide....thanks a million....my little girl will be happy with all the games she can play now..

I will pick up a gc controller and try it

again...thanks for your reply's :)

Hello everyone.
this guide has worked for me and I can play many games using USB Loader GX. I am currently in cIOS Rev13b.

Should I go to 14 by just running the installer or is there something greater involved?

Will going to cIOS rev14 affect my current games?

Am I in the area of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" ?

thanks

Evening all,

I finally updated my softmodded 3.4 wii with homebrew and cios v9 to 4.1
I ran the ios60 patch fine, this went through no problems.
I have a problem updating my wii to cios v14

when updating i got the following error

install error ret -2011

strange thing is that after this error is said install complete??? I'm guessing the install didnt complete due to the above error.
Any ideas on how to fix this error or has the v14 cios gone through fine?

thanks
I'm having the same problem. I dont think it went through fine.
I was hoping this new cIOS would help me play Sports Resort. I got the demo to play, turned off the .dol, but got a black screen when trying to load the NTSC iso on a NTSC wii. Hopefully I can get v14 working to fix this.

So I am guessing that this Hal will work on a non-modded 4.1U Wii. Also is it okay to install DVDx or whatever and the bootmii thing after this guide? Please reply and thanks! :)

Those that are softmodded and are getting "install error ret -2011" when trying to install rev14 try to run IOS Downgrader.

Also make sure if you have WAD Install as the instillation option you have the proper WAD file in the root of the SD card.

If your using WiFi then make sure to change the option to Network Install.

I am a complete noob, but have managed to follow the excellent NEW AND IMPROVED WII SOFTMOD GUIDE and can now run some games from a USB stick on ver 4.1E.
However I am still having some problems with USBLoader gx. Some games work fine eg Big Beach Sports (PAL) but I when I try to load Mario Kart (PAL) RMCP01 the Wii locks up with a black screen.
I installed version 453M which came with the softpack this works with some games but there is no #002 error setting in this version. When I load the new rev 663 my USB stick is not recognised until it is removed and replaced, the internet network connection is rarely recognised and all the games I have loaded are shown with the same name! This version also locks up th Wii. I have checked the Game Compatibility list for Mario Kart and all should be well. I am very frustrated can anyone please help?

I had the same problem when I originally tried the install using an inferior guide. When I started again using the NEW AND IMPROVED WII SOFTMOD GUIDE I reinstalled without loading Bootmii I found the error did not occur.

Okay.. so I finally found an SD card that works, yippee right, now i have homebrew installed, basicall first step and i'm using LU64.

I just put the files for the FIX on my SD then put the SD in and went to HBC. I went to WAD MANAGER v1.3 and installed Ios16, and got

Installing title... ERROR! (ret = -1035)

What should I do bys, I need to install this but it says not to downgrade in the Readme?

Jack_in, I'm getting the same error msg. Whereas my backed up games used to work, they don't anymore. I've been told it has something to do with the intensity of the laser - whether or not it is powerful enough to read recordables. I'd try another brand of dvd-r's or, if that's possible, try and use an external USB harddrive. I've switched to an external drive since, and I wouldn't want to go back.

Hi everyone

Is anyone having problems with rev 663 of USBLoader gx or is it just me?
Can anyone recommend and /or provide a version of USBLoader gx or another USB Installer which works with a USB copy of Mario Kart?

Because the guide is intended for those that have not yet softmodded their system. Those that have not softmodded their system will not have a IOS249 to select. The IOS249 will not become available until after you install the cIOS for the first time.

You're not the only one that had that happen; Are you going to the right screen? (Wii Options -> Memory Management -> SD Card)?

When you click on the SD Card icon in the main menu the system freezes when there are files on the SD Card.

Hi, I have just come across this guide, but I have already installed the homebrew channel using the following guide- the files i used are in the videos description.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C79D_wkcAS0

Now i do not have a wireless connection, and i have come across the guide in this thread to upgrade and get the backup launcher offline (without WiFi). The trouble is in that guide the files are different to what i have already put on my wii, so I dont know where to go from where i am right now. If anybody could check the files i already have and tell me what i need to do next to get the backup launcher installed i would be very grateful indeed.

By the way, i am on version 3.4E so im aware i will need to either downgrade or upgrade to 4.1.

Or is there a way to just undo what i have already done, and start over again by removing the homebrew channel so i can just start the offline guide from the start?

Thanks

Great guide Larry, thanks for updating it.

I got a question...Before you last updated the guide, it said that we should install IOS36.WAD right before installing IOS60patched.wad.
Now, there's no mention of IOS36.wad.
So isn't it needed to softmod new unmodded Wiis?
And what about upgrading an already softmodded Wii? Should IOS36.wad be uninstalled through WAD Manager or can it be left there?

I also read above about running IOS Downgrader if cIOS 14 fails to install. Can anyone give me a brief explanation of what IOS Downgrader does exactly please.

Thanks for all your help.

I used an earlier version of this guide, but today upgraded to cIOS38_rev14 using the softmod kit via HBC.

Question is do I need to do anything afterwards ? (eg follow the other steps of the guide IOS60pathed?

Also the guide I used installed WiiBackupLauncher 0.3 gamma, but I see now the guide uses NeoGammaR6-NGBL.wad. So is it worth upgrading? Plus do I need to uninstall wiibackuplauncher (wg3g002fix.wad) before installing neogamma? Or will installing the NeoGammaR6-NGBL.wad just overight the existing one?

thanks for all the advice....

Regarding IOS60patched, I think this depends on whether you just updated your Wii from 4.0 to 4.1. The guide says that
Quote:
IF YOUR WII IS 4.0 OR BELOW AND ALREADY SOFTMODED (with cIOS36_rev8 or higher and homebrew channel) ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS UPDATE TO 4.1 USING THE NINTENDO SERVERS (how you normally would update). THEN INSTALL THE IOS60PATCHED.WAD
If you simply installed the cIOS14 over cIOS13 or whatever older version you had, you're probably fine.

You'll only need IOS60patched if you upgrade to 4.1. This is because System Menu 4.0 uses IOS60 (presumably 4.1 also uses IOS60). So the upgrade to 4.1 will fix your IOS60 to the Nintendo version but you'll have to patch it again by installing IOS60patched. This is some info I had gathered some time ago about IOS60 and IOS60patched from other members:

IOS60patched.wad allows you to play bootleg VC and Wiiware games from the SD. It installs over the original IOS60 which is used by System Menu 4.0 making it very dangerous if you uninstall it.
IMP: You should delete the WAD file from your SD card so no accidents happen because if you do uninstall it, you will brick your Wii!!

Re BackupLauncher and NeoGamma:
It is advisable to replace WiiBackupLauncher 0.3 gamma. If you google round a bit or even search on this forum you'll find that its old and other reasons for replacing it. The main reason I think is that NeoGamma is an updated version of WiiGator's Backup Launcher and takes care of newer issues not handled in Backup Launcher.
Installing NeoGamma will NOT overwrite BackupLauncher. It will install a new channel so you will then have both NeoGamma and BackupLauncher. That is why you need to uninstall BackupLauncher before or after installing NeoGamma (using WAD Manager).

Had no problems with NeoGamma R6. However, I would suggest getting an external harddrive if you can and using USB Loader GX.
