I personally have this game and am not impressed by the graphics or style. I have talked to a ton of people who just love it. My problem was there was no direction on where to go once I got out of the building. Now, I also noticed an expansion pack is available. What do you guys think?

kind of how I was. If the graphics in game play would have been better, I might have liked it. I just don't understand why some people say it's the best game ever for the 360.

I enjoyed it for PC... but haven't touched it for 360 yet, though I do have it.
I may play the 360 one some day for the achievements, and the expansions (yes, I know they're available for PC too)

well i loved the game and played it for many many hours running all over the wasteland ... really that's what the whole game is about... exploring and finding new people, new quests, tons of cool things all waiting to be discovered...
when you leave the initial building head to megaton and craterside supply... that is where a big quest line starts and will get you going to start exploring the wastes...

I tried to buy into the hype of this game. I too played it for 1-2 hrs,and like someone mentioned above, there was no direction to the game. I don't really like RPGs so to each their own.

No a fan of the whole fallout series but i mean i was entertained for a full...45 minutes. I am very happy i only rented it if i bought it i would have been very very disappointed. Slow reactions graphics not up to par but from what i saw the story line was 6 outta 10. Would not even recommend a rent for this one.

Sounds like this RPG was very poorly done, like alot of xbox rpg's are... Zelda: Ocarina of Time is still probably the best rpg (unless you include Saints Row)

Zelda is not really an RPG- more like an action adventure. And Saints Row is definitely not an RPG.
It seems a lot of people here don't like the game because of the following-
1. Graphics
2. Too Confusing
3. It's an RPG
So yeah if you are a graphics whore, have ADHD, or don't like RPGS, then you won't like this game. But really, you should have known that it was an RPG beforehand. It's like if a person that hates football says that the Madden games suck.
I personally think that Fallout 3 is an awesome game. The graphics stay true to what a wasteland would look like, the vast world has many areas to discover and people to talk to. You can do whatever you want. The freedom of the game really propels you to do every single thing that there is to do.
It's a shame that the people here cannot see what it really is and just shove it away because of the "graphics" or that it's not linear (lol).

Lol at a bunch of people saying they dont like RPGs then scratching their heads wondering why they don't like the game.
It is a VERY deep RPG with ridiculous amounts of exploration and side things to do that keeps people having fun for hundreds of hours (that is superb for an offline no-multiplayer game) with ridiculous amounts of hidden easter eggs and things you have to just go find.
Each quest has several ways to solve it, the AI is pretty damn good, the weapons are awesome, I dont really see the beef you have with the graphics...
If you don't like RPGs and you popped this in thinking it was a first person shooter then I really don't know what to tell ya except don't play elder scrolls haha
yea and any zelda game or GTA ripoff is not an RPG.

Pokemon on the gameboy color, great RPG IMO.
To stay on topic, I havent played Fallout 3 or any of the Fallout games but I have friends who seem to enjoy it.

I played my way out of the underground tunnel and found my way out, the game tries to be interesting but there is nothing compelling enough to keep your attention for very long.
The Genre of This game should be First Person Shooter since that is what it is! RPGs are like Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Disgea and Chrono Trigger. Fallout 3 sucks.

Wow! Great non technical discussion. This is what I imagined AD Xbox forum to be more like!
Fallout is a great game, but I don't like it so much because this type of open game needs to be beautiful, you need to love the palc eyou are in so you explore. Case and point- Oblivion, that was beauty of a setting, I loved it. Fallout is just great but setting is so depressing, nothing amazing to see.
Shall I wait for Xbox 720 for next Elder Scrolls?

Do you guys know what an RPG is? (coming from the person who thought Saints Row is an RPG)
Quote: A game in which players assume the roles of characters and act out fantastical adventures, the outcomes of which are partially determined by chance, as by the roll of dice.
So by that definition (and every other one I could find) Zelda Ocarina of Time is an RPG.

well i, and probably many other people define an RPG as a game where you can decide the outcome of an event, such as, 'do i help this person by delivering a letter to the nearby town' or 'do i kill this person and take all their money instead of delivering that letter.' with this, fallout, oblivion, (perhaps zelda, never played them) are RPGs. saints row, any of the GTAs are not as you dont choose 'im not going to rob the liquor store and kill this hooker with a baseball bat instead of letting them live to get past this mission.'

The reason Fallout 3 is so popular is there is a huge market for people who like to wander around aimlessly for hours on end to do every little thing possible in a game. High replay value. But!, I think many of the people that enjoy it so much just enjoy it because of loyalty to the brand. They liked 1-2, so 3 must be better. Same thing that was the case with Mario, Sonic, Kirby(yeah, remember that thing), Bomberman, you name it. Most of the newer games featuring those characters sucked, but it was the series.
Of course Final Fantasy comes to mind, being you could be mugged for saying something bad about the series, with such a loyal following. I enjoyed playing it for a short amount of time, but it gets annoying to me.
I must admit, being able to emerse myself into another world is fun, but I like objectives in my games. I want to accomplish something, without having to put in a 40 hour work week to do so.
To each their own.

hrmmm well i dont fall into those categories... i never knew much of anything about the fallout brand and i hadn't played fallout 1 or 2 ...
i don't like wandering aimlessly but i think its very cool to find new locations, get bigger guns and murder various things... coming across some chick who's obsessed with and addicted to nuka cola and sticking a chainsaw ripper in her gut and watching the blood fly...
getting mini-nuke weapons and firing them randomly in all directions... sniping a dude from hundred yards away and watching his head explode... finding a crashed alien wreck and blaster technology weapons...
i dunno i think you guys are really selling the game short cause its incredible and like i said is probably the best game i ever played...

Looks like I started a good thread, LOL. Yeah, I more considered this a FPS and not an RPG. I just got sick of all the cutscenes, etc. Everyone has their type of game, mine is more like C.O.D.
