I have read every Punch Out thread, and I'm still not sure what to do.
My NTSC Wiikey is at 1.9G, and is updated to 3.2U.
Super Mario Galaxy, SSBB, and Super Mario Kart works.
I have a backup of NTSC Punch Out (ws_po_ntsc).
I have never done any homebrews/etc.
This is the closest solution I have found posted by Wiiman50:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/773562
Quote: For those using 3.2u and you are modded(HARDWARE BASED)then all you have to do is instal ios60 and cios 7. Then you will have to upgrade. There is no need to use teh Waninkoko's 4.0 upgrader as it raises the possability of a brick.
After you do this then you can install the update through the wii internet if possible.
If you are still at 3.2 then simply to upgrade to 4.0 through the system menu.
So my question is:
How would I install "ios60" and "cios 7"?
I have already downloaded these files; the file names after I extracted them are:
IOS60patched.wad
CIOSv7.wad
Thanks a lot for the help.
I'll try to answer any questions ASAP.

You have to install the Homebrew Channel and have WadManager in your wads folder on the SD card to install those wads. Install ciosv9 or v10 not 7 its older.

I don't see any benefit to installing IOS60 and then upgrading to 4.0
And it's counterproductive if you are installing a patched IOS60 then upgrading to 4.0 through Nintendo.
I could previously see the benefit of installing cIOS before upgrading to 4.0 but the IOS35 trick came out. I would still install cIOS before upgrading though.

Are you saying I can install either BootMii OR Bannerbomb?
IF so, I would simply like to use BootMii.
Here's how my SD Card looks right now:
http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1946/blahz.jpg
(installer.elf is extracted from hackmii_installer_beta2)
Do I simply insert the SD Card in my Wii and run it?
Sorry, I am totally new at this.

Bannerbomb is what enables you to use the installer. The location of the elf file is fine but you should rename it to boot.elf
Rename your wads folder to wad
Follow the instructions for Bannerbomb. In step 3 where it is talking about a Wii executable, that would be the installer.elf that I just told you to rename to boot.elf

I got Homebrew channel working by following your instructions.
Now how do I install my "Wad" folder?
Do I need to use Wad Installer 2.1?

I just want to remind you that installing and uninstalling wads is like the biggest source of bricks. (enough to build a house... har har ok anyway) I believe you should be ok doing what you are trying to do. Just be aware of the risks.
Make a folder in the root of your SD card called Apps. Inside the Apps folder make a folder called Wadmanager. Take the dol file from your unzipped Wadmanager 1.3 folder, rename it to boot.dol and put it in your Wadmanager folder.
When you start the homebrew channel you should see it there. You can now load Wadmanager. Select SD and you should see the wads that are in your wad folder.
This is also how you can install cIOS.
All that being said, if you can use bootmii as boot2, why not make a backup of your nand?

I did as you said,
my boot.dol is at "G:\apps\Wadmanager"
But when I insert my SD Card and go to Homebrew, it doesn't have any picture, icon, author, or anything.
But it's there... should I install/Press Yes anyways?
The only file in my "wad" folder is "IOS36-64-v1042.wad" (from ciosrev10installer)

It's alright to load wadmanager without a picture or info. Usually in homebrew apps folders along with the boot.dol (the actual program) is an icon.png (picture) and a meta.xml (info). Wadmanager didn't come with one but people make them to make it look more official.

"Am I sure I want to install IOS36-64-v1042.wad?"
I asking because you said:
"I don't see any benefit to installing IOS60 and then upgrading to 4.0"
So I never bothered using IOS60...
Just making sure I'm not reading anything wrong, I don't wanna brick my Wii.
So yeah, I'll press A to install as soon as you give the word.

You'll still have to use 60. I said I didn't see any benefit in installing a patched 60 and then updating to 4.0 because 4.0 comes with 60. 60 is the IOS that the system menu uses in 4.0 When you update, your 60 will just be overwritten by the update.
And I wasn't trying to scare you by saying "that's for you to decide" I just want you to be aware that regardless of precautions taken there is always still some risk involved.

Also if you update to 4.0, removing IOS60 is a death wish for your Wii. Many times people have uninstalled the wad in wadmanager not knowing that this is what was happening.
Same thing with 30 in 3.2 and 3.3 and 50 in 3.4

Ok, I pressed A, and it installed successfully.
When you said I still have to use 60, are you saying once I update from 3.2U to 4.0 it's automatically there?
Now what do I do? System update from online?

I would say try running a backup but since you have a mod chip, a backup will run regardless. Why don't you get Anytitledeleter and see if it lists IOS249 in the system files.

Actually you shouldn't worry about it. It likely installed just fine and you can now install cIOS on 4.0 anyway. Yeah you can update.
After you update try Punch Out again. And then you can run IOS downgrader. It's at Waninkoko's blog. I'd post a link but I am downstairs and thus typing this with my Wii (point click point click...) Then you can update cIOS to at least rev 9. 12 recently came out but it has a few issues (you can still install it though)
And on 4.0, get any IOS60 wad you might have away from your wad folder.
haha "almost" half way done.
I seem to remember 4.0 taking the longest of any of the updates to complete.

How come people are so scared to leave 3.2? Extracting IOSes and stuff :) 4.0 is the new 3.2.
You can accomplish all on 4.0 that you could on 3.2.
And bricks are availible to all even on 3.2. Someone on 3.2 bricked their Wii because they installed an IOS30 from a Punch Out disc. Unknown to them is that Nintendo has been creating stub IOSes out of some of the older IOSes.

That's understandable. And I didn't mean to come off in a bad way if I did. I guess I just heard too much of 3.2 being this great magical place where nothing goes wrong and you can install PS3 and Xbox360 emulators and such.
