Yeah lots of ppl have done so, I think there may be a limit to the size though and ppl say its best to get 5400rpm hdds not the faster 7200rpm to prevent the PS3 from overheating.
As bigo93 has said, loads of people have done it,Sony lets us do it without voiding the warranty,at the moment you are limited to putting 500GB internally,750GB 2.5" HDD's should be out soon though.
There is a way to use a 1TB 3.5" HDD,but that gets complicated and will leave ugly wires outside your PS3.
Also there is no such console as a 10GB PS3,there are 20,40,60,80 and 160GB.
okay i got a 20 gb, so could i put a 40 gb hardrive in it? without voiding the warranty? and could i transfer my game saves to it? is there a tutiorial for this? and a site where i can buy new hardrives ?

lol youve been told twice, that it wont void your warranty and upgrading it from 20 to 40 GB isnt really worth it,yes you can transfer your game saves, there are loads of tutorials on how to change your HDD and loads of sites that sell the HDD's.
make sure you go for a 2.5" laptop harddrive.
i just upgraded my PS3 to a WD500GB see my post on 500GB on another forum. Keep your original 40gb so if you have to send your PS3 to SONy for repair you can swap the new drive with the original drive
ok i got it! thanks so now thats all done, where a good site to buy a new hdd? cause i got no idea, and if i do got a laptop/notepad w/e u call it how do i take the hdd out? (cause its broken on thew screen)
