Hey guys. Im new to this whole psp moding era. I bought a psp3000 a couple of months ago and found out that it could not be moded. 2 days ago i ordered a psp slim 2000 from amazon which arived today. It has a 4.01 firmware. I've heared that if that's the case then its not modable. Is this true? if not can anyone explain or link me to where i can mod it?
PS: I've already tryed to create a magic memory stick using easy installer but it doesn't seem to work.
I've also posted a reply in http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/6/736663#4706716

Are you useing a pandora's battery with the Magic Memory Stick? because you will need one to install the Custom firmware from the Magic Memory Stick. If not there like $5 with free shipping on dealextreme.com

Well I'm using this guide:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/708959
I tryed to make a magic memory stick but it didn't work. I remember i read somewhere in this site that if your psp has firmware 4.0+ out of the box it can not be moded.

i used to think psp 2000 ofw 3.95 was the highest psp you could mod kittiymat proved me wrong as is the motherboard thats the prob a good indication is psp 2000 above 3.95 but that don't mean its not if you use A pandora and mms and it has a TA-088v3 you won't be able to boot it, you woun't dammage it, chickHEN homebrew enabler R2 and pspident will confirm this for you, install the first then the second and run it and you will find out if r if not you have the dredded motherboard (mobo) for short.

I tryed instaling chickHEN homebrew enbaler r2 but it didn't work. I copied the slim.tiff image file in M:/PSP/PHOTO , then copied the h.bin to M:/ (root) and rebooted the psp but nothing happend.

I live in toronto and heared from some people that they might be some people in china town that would do it. I searched everywhere and all I found was that there was about 5 sushi restaurents per block. I ordered the battery-tool from code junkies but by the feed back people are givving, I don't think it's gonna come anytime soon. Still I can't make a magic memory stick. I tryed several guides and none of them worked. So if you guys know the solution to those problems, I'd be glad to hear them.

Look, if your PSP is 4.01 or above out of the box, it has a TA-088v3 motherboard, so you can't mod it. You should have bought a Phat. So, now your options are this: 1) Use ChickHEN to get 5.03 GEN-A or 2) Use ChickHEN and cfwe 3.10 to get 5.03 M33 (which is not real m33).
Here is how you go about doing that:
Option 1) Install ChickHEN here
Put h.bin in MS root, and the ChickHEN folder in either ms0:/PICTURE or ms0:/PSP/PHOTO.
Backup your Memory Stick onto your computer.
Go to your PSP, Format the Memory Stick and Restore Default Settings.
Navigate to your pictures folder, click on the ChickHEN folder, and wait. In 1-4 tries, your screen will flash green and ChickHEN will have loaded. Plug your PS back in and if you want 5.03 GEN-A download here and for cfwe 3.10 here. Follow directions in readme for each one respectively. Then once they are on your PSP, you can use ISO, Homebrew, everything just like cfw, but do not shut your psp all the way down. only put it into sleep mode. If your psp shuts all the way down, then you will have to do the ChickHEN again and install GEN-A or cfwe 3.1 again. Hope this helps!

I clicked on the chicken folder and waited for like 1 minute each time. I tryed multiple times but my screen doesn't flash green.

don't make the mistake of thinking above 3.95 on a slim will stop you modding its the TA088v3 motherboard that stops you not the firmware
