my wii is softmodded with banner bomb and already was at system menu 4.0
if u look at it from my perspective i followed your instructions word for word because the problem i was encountering was similar, now system doesnt work, it would be very unsual for me to be happy about what happen to my wii as a result of ur instructions. i did some digging and ios60 installer has been doing this to alot of ppl's wii's, there are lots of forum postings about this specific error from ios60 installer and no one knows how to fix it. which is why you are getting the heat for reccomending people do it to their systems. regardless of whether or not you authored the program

shamefully i admit i installed ios60 installer before preloader .29
i've read that ios downgrade bricks the system entirely.

what are you thoughts on this larry

Thanks for your support guys.

But his system is not bricked.

He is just doing something wrong.

If it was bricked he wouldn't be able to boot into the Wii System menu at all.

Also this thread is not ment for all to use. I gave you the steps to update to 4.0 firmware by going on what your system specs were.

So not everyone would follow these steps if they had a diffrent setup.

I have used all of the above programs that you have mentioned and have never had a problem with any of them. I have modded tons of systems.

How did you play your backups?

From Disc Channel or Wiigator?

Try reinstalling cIOS38_rev12 again.

The IOS60 patch should not effect the USB Loader at all. That is run from IOS249 which is cIOS38_rev12 if that is what you updated it to.

it dosent really matter. Just keep it at default whiich is IOS249.

You might need to press 1 a few times to get Preloader .29 to run.

Where are you getting the Preloader steps from?

not exactly, i downloaded the discchannelsoftmod.zip and took the ios60installer and preloader and had installed the ios60 installer after i had installed cios38_rev18. i said no to ios61, yes to ios60, yes to the patch, and no to the shop channel. after i tried ot install the preloader and it just sat on the opening screen and there was cut off text at the very top that i couldnt read

You said you have Bootmii installed. Did you happen to make a backup of your NAND before doing these extra steps?

Sorry it was Bannerbomb that you sued. So you probably do not have Bootmii or a NAND backup.

If it was installed to boot2 it should have installed a Bootmii folder at the root of the SD card. But Bootmii should automatically boot (unless you took the bootmii folder off the SD card). If it is installed as an IOS you have to load it through the Homebrew Channel.
