From what I understand, usenet is SSL encrypted, right?
not all newsgroups are ssl, some offer the protection for an added cost, but newsgroups is by far much safer, and as said DO NOT UPLOAD. also monitoring your d/l's would help too, if you are downloading 250+ gig a month, that is excessive, and you should consider if it is worth downloading or not.

or you can just use a modem that isnt in your ISPs records and they have no idea who has the modem or where it came from. they can track it down to a section of a neighborhood maybe with LE traces and amplifier signatures on their own network to narrow down the location but it would be hard to pinpoint the exact location.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

There's definitely a bunch of sites out there that sell modified modems for doing it. The general process is scanning network nodes for mac addresses of other modems. You can then clone that mac address to your own modem, and use it to access the network.

The only flaw, is that it is still physically traceable. Even if two of the same mac addresses aren't noticed on a network, and you aren't noticed for downloading with it, it's still possible (really only if someone actively searches for it) for the network people to see traffic is going out on a certain port/line and narrow that down to the physical location.

need jtag help? Xbox 360 console repair? PM me or chat

And if you get caught cloning somebodies mac addy, not to mention doing something illegal while cloning a mac (double illegal, does this work like double negative?), I am pretty sure you will get something really nasty thrown your way....cyber terrorism nasty.

@guesswho

That was an interesting read!

works quite nicely :) although i now live in bfe, and get nothing back on a scan.

its also possible to just use a mac that is in correct form and not even pulled from the active pool. there are so many MACs in existence that you can just use the first 4-5 characters of a commom address(since there are so many there are 10's if not 1000's that use the same first 4-5 characters) and just make up the rest and have it work.
