i got this working. But after hitting update, yes it would stop working all together. Then after delete and reload your softmod version, everything back to normal.

However, I notice that every time to get it to work, i had to start usb loader gx with my removable HDD unplugged. Then when it says cannot find USB device and gives you 30 sec, plug my HDD in and it works.

But now when switch from one to game to another, i go back to wii menu and if i start USB loader with my HDD plugged in, it will take me to my games menu but when i start a game, my wii would freeze and i have to hard power down my wii and start over. So every time I switch to a different, i would need to unplug my HDD and then wait till it ask me to plug it in within 30sec in order for it to work.
Anyone experiencing the same problem? is there a fix for this because it is really inconvenient.

Anyway, at least it is working. I just hate burning DVDs.
Thank you Larry for the guide. You have revive my wii.

I have he same issue and this is my work around. To exit the game, press the Home button in the Wii remote and then select the Reset option instead of the Wii Menu option.

This will take you to the Wii Menu also but of course will reset your Wii so your USB drive will be loaded.

hey, did you end up getting yours working? i have an 8GB USB stick and i can't effing format it...i've tried everything from doing it through windows to using heaps of different programs, to trying this USB Loader GX on the Wii and nothing works

USB Loader GX just says 'USB device not found' or detected or something...can anybody help me with this? i've been trying to format this memory stick for so long and i'm just about at the end of my tether. another thing to note is that i've used multiple USB sticks, so i doubt it's the individual device/brand

I'm getting the Exception occured DSI error. I'm using a PNY 1 gb stick (to test it before I invest in a HD) and am using cios rev 9 on a 4.0 Wii. I have the latest version and have tried the IOS Downgrader already with the same results. Can anyone help with this?

Same here , been doing that for the past 4-5 days. Most likely temporary I hope with the server the app referenced for the indexing.

I updated the boot.dol file with the latest revision on usbloader gx's forum. so just copy over the boot.dol file with the latest revision.

I dont trust the network discovered upgrade, it always locked up for me afterwards. I prefer to do it manually :)

Just updated to rev 581 and got code dumps on Mario Kart and Boom Blox. Didn't try any others. Reverted back to rev 571 & all good.

hm, is there any new compatibility issues with the launcher? I tried opening raving rabbits 2, pal, and a back up dvd version of it works flawlessly, while on my HDD, it has blackouts, no color, and grey bars all over. Anyone have any ideas?

yes this new usb loader is great, i can now dl straight from wii to usb loader in like 20 mins, i instead of the usual 3.5 to 4 hrs rip time to the computer.

only issue is i once dl some box art covers threw my computer to the sd card (which didnt include some of the new games like ghostbuters and maddog mcree) and i thought that i could this new loader would dl the covers via a server straight to the wii, but it still says missing files, for those games....

my question is does this function work.

my cover path name is sd/images = should it say somthing else...
i have the current 583 rev...

Make sure the images you downloaded are 160x244 NOT 160x245

USB Loader GX:

Download the USBLoaderGX file HERE and extract it to your SD Card (Choose YES when it ask to overwrite).

Start the Homebrew Channel and run Wad Manager 1.4. Choose IOS249 and select SD Card for device to mount. Now choose USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad in the list to install.

This will install a forwarder to your Wii menu which will allow you to launch the USB Loader from the Wii menu (this is only a forwarder it will still need the SD card in the Wii to run the Loader).

The USB Loader GX is password protected. The default password is ab121b. After you unlock the loader you can change the password to whatever you want or leave it blank to not set a password.

You can update USB Loader GX by going to settings and selecting the icon that looks like a Wii with an arrow pointing down on it (next to the STAR icon).

To add a game you will need to click on the + icon an the bottom left of the menu (the loader needs to be unlocked for this icon to appear).

To auto-download game covers and disc covers click on the boxart icon to the left of the menu (the loader needs to be unlocked to download covers).

If you want to manually add a cover then the cover size should be a factor of 4 (I have 160x244 for cover and 160x160 for disc) and placed in the below directory ...

Cover: SD:/images folder.
Disc Cover: SD:/images/disc folder.

I have included the folder directories already in the above download.

If the Loader can not find the USB device then plug the USB Device in the other USB Slot on the Wii.

For more information on USB Loader GX go HERE.

WBFS Manager 3.0.1 This is a PC GUI application that transfers Wii backup games from PC to USB Device. An alternative way to transfer games to the WBFS formated USB Device rather then using the Wii DVD Drive.

HERE is a USB Hard Drive compatibility list.
Yeah well i had installed the USBLoader GX from you and it worked fine but then my wii wanted me to perform a system update and i accepted it. Now when i tried to load the Usb loader gx it just brings me back to the system menu. Please help

This one stumped me for about 30seconds... you need to make sure your SD Card with USBLoaderGX is inserted in your wii as you havent loaded it as a channel.
