G'day Ricey, I had upgraded my system, as it was already softmodded, then installed the IOS60PATCHED.WAD as per instructions. I then had the same problem as you. I went back and installed CIOS038_rev13a and reinstalled USB Loader GX. Everything now works perfectly.

Is this correct, that when using the upgrade capability within the loader, it does not update the forwarder? Does the forwarder not just run the app from the SD card, therefore does not need updating? So is the forwarder another version of the loader? Would appreciate if someone explained... cheers

Using the "Update dol, or update All" feature of USBloaderGX will update the loader, however!!!! it will not update the forwarder in the main channel menu.
I keep updating and realized that i was still running version 440. I wasnt updating my forwarder, so it kept loading the older version....doh!
Updating the forwarder requires installing a new wad with the wad installer.

G'day Ricey, Just to be on the safe side I would uninstall the loader. It only takes a matter of moments to do so. My opinion is you will get a much cleaner install and less chance of corruption if you do this. Since I installed USB Loader for the first time only 3 weeks ago, I have been inundated with friends and family asking me to soft-mod their systems and hook up an external hard drive. Like I suggested earlier, I had problems with my initial install, but since installing the cios038 and re-installing USB Loader, I haven't looked back. I use a Seagate Freeagent Go 320Gb. I picked it up at the Computer Fair for $100au and it works like a charm, just disable power saving mode on it. I have also installed a Western Digital 320 GB My Passbook on a couple of other systems and it works flawlessly (even better than my Seagate drive). I also tried a 640Gb Western Digital Caviar in a generic housing and it too worked like a charm. I've gone back to the Seagate drive though, as it takes up much less room and is much more portable.

I have followed the softmod 4.0 guide and everything downloaded correctly. followed this guide and everything seemed to go correctly. formatted my drive, it reads fine on the wii, but as soon as I push play, the screen goes black. I have used autopatch, force ntsc, disc default, and system default. nothing doing.
the 3 games that I have tried are boom blox 2, ice age 3 and wii sports.

I dont know hat I am doing wrong. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!

johnyb62, as I understand it, the forwarder just simply acts a shortcut, like on your computer desktop. As long as the forwarder is pointing at the correct file on your sd card everything should be fine. There is no updating of the forwarder. Again, this is only as I understand it. I have upgraded, downgraded and replaced the files on the sd card and haven't updated the forwarder. Everything here is working gr8.

hey, did you end up getting yours working? i have an 8GB USB stick and i can't effing format it...i've tried everything from doing it through windows to using heaps of different programs, to trying this USB Loader GX on the Wii and nothing works

USB Loader GX just says 'USB device not found' or detected or something...can anybody help me with this? i've been trying to format this memory stick for so long and i'm just about at the end of my tether. another thing to note is that i've used multiple USB sticks, so i doubt it's the individual device/brand
i had the same problem trying to create a partiton on my 8gb drive, i finally did it tonight and got it to load as a usb loader for wii, if you email me i will tell you the programs i used, it took ten mins, very easy indeeed..

xsoob, what drives have you tried? Have you plugged the usb drive in at different times to see if it will pick it up that way?

is there a way or a guide as easy to follow as larrys on how to play rockband games in this loader gx. the mic works but the instraments do not...and they do not work from a back up disk or if there is a way to launch them from a disk that would help too.

How many games will depend on what games you're talking about. For example, Wii Sports is almost nothing... Ghostbusters is almost 3.9 gb.

If you're using the USBLoaderGX then yes you will need to leave the SD card in the Wii. If you're using another version, like 1.4 or 1.5 then they have wads you can install as a stand alone channel.
Where are these 1.4 or 1.5. I search and find number in the r516 currently. Also with that here there is a post suggesting not to install r516. Did I miss R2-4.

If and When I install USB Loader V??? and use the WSFS Manager Do I need to dedicate a USB Hard drive to this cause or for testing or multifunction the drive can I partition one part as WSFS and the other as Fat/Fat32/NTSF for saving my game ISO or other things. Will USBLoader get crabby with these other files?

I am getting the DSI error as well. I've followed the New and Improved WII Softmod but have been unsuccessful. Error occurs when I click on the plus sign. Situation did not improve after I upgrade to version 633 ios249 rev13.

I've just installed everything with no problems. However, I'm using a wrong SD Card that I actually need for other things! So can I simply place the zip contents into another SD Card and plug that in instead??

Or do I have to use the one with which I first installed the whole thing??

(I tried to access the first SD Card after installing, but got an error from windows - so was thinking that the Wii changed the format of the card and that I can't just replace that first card with another with similar files)

Can someone please clarify for me?? Thanks a lot!

Just drop in and copy the contents of the other card into another, or drop the zip you originally used and redownload the cover images. yes, you can do that just fine.

i got this working. But after hitting update, yes it would stop working all together. Then after delete and reload your softmod version, everything back to normal.

However, I notice that every time to get it to work, i had to start usb loader gx with my removable HDD unplugged. Then when it says cannot find USB device and gives you 30 sec, plug my HDD in and it works.

But now when switch from one to game to another, i go back to wii menu and if i start USB loader with my HDD plugged in, it will take me to my games menu but when i start a game, my wii would freeze and i have to hard power down my wii and start over. So every time I switch to a different, i would need to unplug my HDD and then wait till it ask me to plug it in within 30sec in order for it to work.
Anyone experiencing the same problem? is there a fix for this because it is really inconvenient.

Anyway, at least it is working. I just hate burning DVDs.
Thank you Larry for the guide. You have revive my wii.
I have he same issue and this is my work around. To exit the game, press the Home button in the Wii remote and then select the Reset option instead of the Wii Menu option.

This will take you to the Wii Menu also but of course will reset your Wii so your USB drive will be loaded.
I also using RESET option as a workaround for this issue. Does multiple reset can damage your wii?
Does this issue been fix?
