GUIDE:Hack ANY Psp WITHOUT Pandora

INTRODUCTION
If you want to hack your PSP effortlessly without any pandora battery whatsoever this is the right thread for you. However this requires 5.03 OFW ( version ) or lower. Check your firmware by going to settings-> system settings-> system information . If the version writes 5.03 or lower you should be fine and your PSP system can be hacked.IF it's higher than 5.03 atm you CANNOT hack your PSP without entering service mode.
Your PSP can be hacked by taking advantage of an exploit ( bug ) found in 5.03 official SONY firmware that will enable a HEN ( Homebrew Enabled ) environment with the help of a Tiff Exploit named ChickHEN .
This applies to ANY PSP series out there . ( 1000 , 2000 , 3000 ) .
HOWEVER the brand new PSP 3000s and the unhackable TA088v3 Slim motherboards CANNOT be fully hacked yet. Every time the PSP reboots the PSP FW will revert BACK to OFW 5.03 , atm there's nothing to do about it . ( CFW can't be permanently installed into flash ) .
ANY kind of PSP FAT ( 1000 series ) and PSP Slim ( 2000 series ) hackable motherboards can be FULLY hacked using this method. That means the CFW will be permanently installed and more stable.
I will keep this thread updated with the latest CFWEnabler releases or better hacking methods . The latest CFWEnablers will be included below [ ^UP^TO^DATE^ Section ]
This guide has 2 main sections : Installing 5.03 Offical and Loading ChickHEN R2 and Installing Custom Firmware.

Latest CFWEnabler : 13/07/2009 Custom firmware enabler v3.60.

Just copy the CFWEnabler folder into /PSP/GAME , then go to Games and run the installer
1)INSTALLING 5.03 OFFICIAL AND LOADING CHICKHEN R2
a)INSTALLING 5.03 OFFICIAL
Firstly, you CANNOT do this unless you hava a PSP with Version = <5.03 . To check your PSP FW go to Settings-> System Settings-> System Information . If the version is 5.03 , skip this part and follow the guide below to install ChickHEN . If you have a lower version follow this GUIDE in order to install OFW 5.03 .
-Download 5.03 OFW HERE
-Connect your PSP to your PC via USB and create a folder in PSP/GAME named UPDATE.
-Copy the .EBOOT file in PSP/GAME/UPDATE.
-Run the update from your PSP .
Now you should have a 5.03 OFW PSP , just what you need in order to load the Tiff Exploit.
b)LOADING CHICKHEN R2
Some useful tips for those who can't get the ChickHEN to work :
-Restore Default Settings
-Set UMD Auto Start and Cache OFF.
-Make sure you have the h.bin file to the memory stick root ( NOT THE FOLDER , GOOGLE IT IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT MEMORY STICK ROOT IS )
-Make sure you're on 5.03 OFW
-Format Memory Stick. ( this will erase all the data from your MS so you'd better backup your files on your PC before doing it )
-Try another method as this video shows : YouTube - PSP-3000 fw 5.03 ChickHEN R2 installation with 90-100% Success
-Don't give up , just try and be patient.
Note that the files needed for PSP 2000 and 3000 series are different than the ones needed for PSP 1000 so don't screw it up.
FOR PSP SLIM ( 2000 & 3000 ) :
-Download ChickHEN R2 Easy to Load HERE.
FOR CLASSIC PSP ( 1000 ) :
-Download ChickHEN R2 Easy to load HERE.
-Copy h.bin to the Memory Stick ROOT .
-Copy ChickHEN folder to PSP/PHOTO ( create one if needed )
-Navigate to your PHOTOS folder , and enter the ChickHEN folder. And wait, you will see some images, these will start to load thumbnails.Go all the way down to the last image. Your PSP may freeze and reset. Just keep retrying and ChickHEN R2 will load up?.But if you see flashing colors, your PSP will reboot loading the ChickHEN.
For those who can't load the ChickHEN files check above for useful tips and remember to restore default settings.
Check your PSP's version to make sure. If it's something like 5.03 ChickHEN R2 you should be fine and ready to install CFW.
2)INSTALLING CUSTOM FIRMWARE
ChickHEN R2 must be enabled.
If you have a PSP 3000 series , follow the 2nd tutorial b) * Installing CFW onto a PSP 3000 series and Slim TA088v3 MOBO's *
If you have a PSP Slim and you do NOT know if your PSP is hackable or not , follow the first tutorial a) * HOW TO FIND OUT WHETHER YOUR MOBO IS HACKABLE OR NOT *
If you have a PSP Slim and you already know you have TA088v3 motherboard that can't be hacked follow the 2nd tutorial b) * INSTALLING CFW ONTO ANY PSP 3000 SERIES AND PSP 2000 TA088V3 *
If you have a hackable PSP Slim motherboard and any Fat PSP follow the 3rd tutorial c) * INSTALLING CFW ONTO ANY PSP CLASSIC AND PSP SLIM HACKABLE MOBO *
a)HOW TO FIND OUT WHETHER YOUR MOBO IS HACKABLE OR NOT
ChickHEN must be enabled.Only use this for PSP 2000 Slim , it's useless using it on the other PSP series .
-Download PSPIdent HERE.
-Copy the PSPIdent folder to your PSP/GAME folder.
-Go to GAME and run the program
If your PSP Motherboard series is TA088v3 you CANNOT fully hack your PSP , so use the 2nd guide below.
If your Motherboard series is different than TA088v3 you CAN fully hack your PSP , so use the 3rd guide c) .
b)INSTALLING CFW ONTO ANY PSP 3000 SERIES AND PSP 2000 TA088V3
ONLY use this for PSP 2000 and 3000 series
PSP FW will revert back to 5.03 OFW when rebooted so try to keep it on standby. When you completely restart your PSP the system version should go back to 5.03 . If so , you will have to repeat the installation process for installing ChickHEN and then CFWe.
ChickHEN must be enabled.
-Dowload CFWEnabler 3.60 HERE
-Copy the CFWEnabler folder to your PSP/GAME folder.
-Go to GAME and start the CFWe.
-Press () to reboot in the custom firmware.
-Enjoy :P
In the end , press SELECT while in XMB and change UMD Iso Mode to ''M33 Driver'' or ''Sony NP9660''. I also recommend formatting memory stick. Place your CSO/ISO games to the ISO folder on your memory stick root.
Do NOT mess up with the Flash no matter what you're doing if you don't want your PSP useless as a brick don't replace files , don't do any action involving the Flash you've been warned !
c)INSTALLING CFW ONTO ANY PSP CLASSIC AND PSP SLIM HACKABLE MOBO
Do NOT try this on any PSP 3000 or PSP 2000 unhackable mobo's this is only for PSP Phat and 2000 hackable series.
This will permanently install CFW onto your PSP
ChickHEN must be enabled.
-Download Recovery Flasher 1.60 HERE.
-Download 5.0 OFW HERE.
-Copy the Recovery folder to PSP/GAME .
-Also copy the 5.0 official update renamed as 500.pbp to PSP/GAME/RECOVERY folder .
-Go to GAME and run the program and install 5.0 M33-6 !
In the end , press SELECT while in XMB and change UMD Iso Mode to ''M33 Driver'' or ''Sony NP9660''. I also recommend formatting memory stick. Place your CSO/ISO games to the ISO folder on your memory stick root.

Heyy,
im a total n00b at this stuff, so im trying this out for the first time.
Ive loaded chickHEN R2 already so now it reads 5.03 ChickHEN R2.
I run a PSP slim 2006 with TA-088v3, so i need to use CFWEnabler.
I placed the file in the memory stick, and ran the program from games,
but now i dont know where to go.
it says "Flash and start"
"changelog"
"settings"
"Exit"
Im worried to press flash and start because i dont want to brick my
PSP. Can you guide me through these last steps?

Yes that's the right thing to do . flash and start . press {} to reboot the PSP in the end.

Hi PSPgamen!
I was just wondering what I'm supposed to do to activate ChickHEN?
I have a PSP Slim ver 5.03 and all it says when i go to games then press X on the program, "File Corrupted. Cannot Start Game."
Please help.

I did it. Thanks for the guide. HOWEVER, everytime i turn off and on my PSP, the hack "M33" gets disabled so i have to do the entire process again.
Is there a way to make the hack permanent for my PSP?
I have the PSP Slim one which has this version "TA088v3"
so i stop at b)

Dont turn off your PSP.
I have the same problem as you. Whenever you reboot the PSP, it will wipe out the cfw, so the best way to keep the cfw on there is to keep the psp on standby (flick the power switch once instead of holding it for 3 seconds)
make sure the battery doesnt run out or you will have to mod it again.

ya atm there's no way to install permanent CFW on TA088v3 so try not to mess up wtih flash files and keep it on standby.

ok i got an issue...im trying to do this to a psp 1000...and the psp aint rebooting itself...all it does when i go to the photos folder is one of 3 things...1...when its about to load up the actual folder...it will freeze then shut off like its about to reboot...but wont...2, it will start to load up the items in the folder and do the same thing...then 3...i even tried opening the till file on the psp...and all it will do is freez and shut off...no rebooting at all...WTF

just copy the entire chickHEN folder into the photos and just open the folder, it should automatically flash and reboot, or if it doesnt work, shut down.
btw, the chickHEN provided on this page isnt the best one,
google Davee's ChickHEN with the egg pictures, that one always
works.
dont forget to copy h.bin onto the root.

but which way am i doing...opening the tiff, loading up the item in the folder or just getting to the folder option?

ok no offense pspgamen...you say try the tips above...but yet those tips are only for 2ks and 3ks...even that link on youtube is for 3ks only...so i dont know...and ive been trying those other steps...formatted the mem stick, restored to default...even turned off the umd and cache...nothing still...i understand that this method takes forever to connect but there has got to be a faster way to not use the battery...

hey , try downloading this ChickHEN for FAT from HERE .
Copy h.bin to the memory stick root [ the main part of the memory stick where you can see all the foldes. ]
and copy the ChickHEN folder to PSP/PHOTO.
Navigate to your PHOTOS folder , and enter the ChickHEN folder. And wait, you will see some .gif imags and a .tiff image, just wait for it to load and the PSP should reboot. If it doesn't just keep trying over and over again hehee.
Yam there is no UMD Cache option for Fat , my mistake. Just restore default settings, format MS and set Umd Auto Start to Off.

ok i read the intro and can i now have som advice i know i have a hackable psp (its the one thats from the daxter pack) i have everything except for the custom firmware and my computer reads the recovery flasher as a .rar not a folder and my psp does not read the recovery flasher either

firstly you will need 5.03 and ChickHEN installed. An official firmware PSP cannot read usigned code so u will need the HEN loaded wich requires 5.03 official.
