Hello all, I'm new to this and would just like to say thanks for all the info posted on this site. After looking through these pages for a couple of hours I was able to get my Dreambox back in action within 30 minutes. I have since fixed another 3 for family. For anyone who is new to this please look through the previous pages as all the info you need is there. Adding repeated posts just clogs up the thread and makes it harder for everyone to find the information (everything toy need is on the 1st page). A lot of lads have done a lot of hard work for the benefit of everyone - I for one am very thankful - happy viewing.

Yeah just wondering if it's worth forking out the extra 70/80 reddies (£STG) for the pleasure of HD :-)

I like the look of the Digivox XL USB tho I must say - But how good is the PVR function? Will it work with any drive?

I'm sure I'll find out in the long run but seeing as the Max V is replaced by the ex1000 I think I'd better upgrade before the footy kicks off!!!:-)

Hi all,
I have used both the eurovox 1000 and the starview 4usb and my personnal opinion is that the Starview 4 usb is a far better box. The PVR function is handy both for recording and updating when needed.
PM me if you need to get one and I will point you in the right direction as there are clones out there for both boxes and I wouldn't advise buying a clone. Best of luck with your choice.

Can I ask on this post - what was the story with the frequent code rolls last year on N1?
I know it's hard to predict but I assume the same is possible on N2 -will it be another year of frequent code changes do you reckon?

I thought NTHell were encrypting the channels using Nagravision 3, and there is no hack/fix for this as yet ? What's the point then in buying one of these SV4 boxes if the signal is still "unencryptable" ?
I've been out of the loop on this for a while - Have The Box for a long time and it's just gathering dust right now :-(

I suppose what it boils down to is: if I buy a SV4 box, update the firmware etc. (do i need a R252 cable or USB key ? any other software needed ?) will I get all the channels back unencrypted, and if so, is it only a matter of time before NTHell "fix" and steal them away from me again :-) ?

Let me see if I understood this correctly...
NTHell are encrypting using N3 right now, correct ? Or is it N2 ?
Or is it only the HD channels that are on N3 ?
So, if I buy a SV4 USB, and upgrade firmware on it, will I get all the NTHell channels EXCEPT the HD ones ?

And what do you mean "a matter of time before N3 kicks" - do you mean before there's a hack for it ? Far as I recall, the bloke who wrote the encryptin algorithm got something like a 7-figure sum to develop a hackproof algorithm, and he has to pay back a geansai load of cash if it's hacked within 2 years or something like that...Sooooooo, there won't be a hack for N3 for the foreseeable...

They are using both N3 and N2 currently. for HD and normal chans

HD is on N3 at present
A SV or any of the ones listed will get the chans at present, on N2

There is no fix for N3

I'm very glad you said that Mickah! There was me lining up a few people to all buy the EX7000 HD - I would be wasting my money right now if NT* are encrypting their channels on N3 eh?
I'd have the normal ones but not the HD....
Close call there.

Cheers for clarifying that mate. Do we know if they're planning to move ALL the channels to N3 i.e. not just the HD ones ?

Yeah I hear that! Thank God I didn't go forking out £500 for a couple of the 7000's purely for the HD on NT* Dublin tho. I was that close...
Back to the SV 4 or some other USB & PVR box...
Cheers.
