into any PCI slot on your PC motherboard, the SATA cable goes into the slot at the end of the sata card not the one now at the back of your pc or the one beside the IDE slot.
did you get a probe yet?
Where in the UK are you?

lucky for me i do should i connect the chipset vt6421a sata cable to a pci slot? or should i connect the ide?

how can you connect a SATA cable to a PCI or IDE slot?
Eddy you a hard work mate. go and pay someone to do it for you before, you brick your DVD drive and render the Xbox useless.

open your PC, look for a spare PCI slot, remove the metal cover adjacent to PCI slot, fit your Sata card into said slot and fit Sata cable to where I showed you, reboot, down load Jungle flash and follow the perfect idiots guide to flashing your xbox by Leerage on this thread.

First off, thank you VERY much for the detailed walkthrough. I'm stumped though. Went to the shack, bought the parts, built my own spear, plugged into rs232, grounded, used molex from an old external drive for power, opened JF, put drive in standby, plugged the spear into the rs707 hole on dvd board, keep getting bad serial error when i select "get key, create dummy bin..." Spear is confirmed working through hyperterminal. Been pouring over multiple threads all day and still no luck. Any help greatly appreciated.

how can i know if my onboard sata is compatible? and also what will happen if its not? will it just not let me do anything or will it mess up my drive?

Only way to know if your SATA is compatible is to try it out. More than likely if it isn't compatible, you won't see your drive in JF.

GRRR this is making me mad. I followed all the steps but when going to open jungleflasher, it says no comm port detected. I thought no big deal because I am using a sata port not a com port. I got a probe off ebay that is too big for the hole damnit. Well I modify the probe to fit in the hole and hit the get key button and it errors out saying no comm port detected. I have the drive selected in the sata ports list but there is no comm port. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

You will need a com port to dump the key. This probe off ebay, does it have USB?

I lost my original 360 drive [liteon] in the bus when i was on my way to my mate trying to flash my drive.
Yeah i now,i was feeling me really stupid
I still have the cover plate with the info on it i take it of at home
before i left.
Now i have a new one from the internet and this new drive is also a liteon en is already flasht with the ixtreme 1.61.
What do i need to do to get it working as the original drive on my 360?
Can somebody help me please?

The specific drive info is on the sticker. But without the DVDkey, the XBOX 360 will only play DVDs.

But there most be a way to read the original key from the bios of my 360 [i hope] and with a modchip 4 a 360 installed ?
I read somewhere that the by-pass the key is true en would it work?
I don't like to buy a new 360 because of this stupid action of me.
nobody likes to do that.

There is the Infectus 2 chip that would be able to dump the NAND flash of the 360 to get the DVDkey. But I believe that only works on older models 360s. The process is very complicated. You best bet is just to cut your losses and get a new 360.
