Updating to 1.6 on Lite-On - mainly regarding Leerages tutorial

Ok. Taking my Xbox apart now. I want to update it. Need some advice regarding Leerages tutorial.
Just plugged in my pen drive from my initial flash and found all the files I obtained.
From what I can see, all I do with the update flash is put the 1.6 firmware in the JF folder and press a few buttons? What happens to all the rest of the files that i obtained with the original flash?

to update your lite-on just open up JF go to firmware 32, and load your dummy.bin as source, then load the lite-on 1.6 under taget, hit spoof to data. then proceed on like you were erasing/flashing your lite-on as normal.

My head hurts. Load dummy.bin? The tutorial says to save a new dummy.bin?

Yup wabashman is correct. If you already have the dummy bin, you can load it, spoof it to IX 1.6, and flash. The reason I created the FLASHED Lite-ON tutorial was for people who sent their XBOX 360 to get flashed or did not save their dummy bin themselves.

Right I might be back with you two soon. I've dissasembled the thing and taking pictures of all the stickers and writing all the codes down.
Got to get 1.6 from Xbins yet and set everything up. So probably be about 2 hours.
You 2 are fantastic. Always willing to help.

Been to xbins and there's 2 files, downloading them both, but not sure which one I need.
Theres
LiteOn_iXtreme-THX_v1.6.REPACK
and
ix16_LiteOn_0800
Which one am I supposed to use?

repack. 0800 is only needed if you are ripping game with your drive.

You can also half tray the drive and power cycle to get the Lite-ON into 0800 mode. That is a feature of 1.6.

Ahh cool. PC getting all set up, so will be out of your hair within 30 minutes, and will thank both of you to the heavens..
on another note, washabman I do apologise. Just pulled the CK3 out of the antistatic case, and there was a on/off switch starring me in the face. I looked earlier but just did not notice it.
That's what sleep deprivation does to you.

I'm probably bugging you two now, so hopefully someone else has enough patience to post. If not, and wabashman and Leerage reply, thank you so much.
Last hurdle now. I wonder if someone can do a step by step guide
I have the Drive connected, via CK3.
It's shown on 0xF000
I have downloaded the repack of 1.6.
I have extracted the 2mb file, which has turned into a 250mb ISO called activate, a txt doc called ix16 and a ix16 bin file.
I placed these extracted files in the JF 0.1.66.Beta firmware file
I have plugged in mmy USB with all my original dump files in.
I have selected the COM4 port which now shows the CK3.
Please can you tell me what next. Is it getting the drive half way in?

Firmware Tool tab:
Load dummy bin into source.
Load IX 1.6 Repack into target.
Click spoof source to target.
Then go to MTKFlash tab:
Make sure you Lite-ON is identified in drive properties.
Click Lite-ON erase.
You get 2 prompts, first is about DVDkey, 2nd is about returning good status.
As soon as you click OK on 2nd prompt, dots will go across the bottom.
Shut the drive off with the power switch on CK3 and then power back on within 1 second.
Should get good flash chip properties (Status 0x72 - MXIC or Winbond/Nex)
Write the firmware.
Click Outro/ATA Reset.

You were correct in unpacking the rar/zip. I forgot to mention load: ix16liteon-repack.bin

No worries about that. That is only if you have to obtain the dummy bin. Since you already have the dummy bin, you don't have to do the halfway tray. Just the steps I mentioned earlier.

This is what has now shown up. Nothing shown under chip properties mind, but it doesn't look like it did in yours at first..
I have to dig out the extra data now. When will that be prompted?

Go back to the firmware tool tab and make sure the DVDkey is the same from source to target. (click spoof source to target)
