The article clearly states that besides the decoders already onboard for audio (Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD, mp3 etc.) they will add a AAC decoder. MKV is simply a container, once the container is "split" as long as the required decoders are present, the media will play fine.

Well I've got a WD Media Box, Connected with a WD Passport. Connected to my TV it plays all formats, includinG MKV--But with no sound on the MKV [I guess because its DTS ], The picture is excellent..Any Program I've used to convert the MKV sound leaves of the last 5 mins or so..
I've found MKVs very difficult to convert, while keeping original sound track [5'1] to stero everything is OK

Best way would be to use MKVextractGUI and demux all the streams to an elementary level, then you could use a number of available programs to convert the audio to your desired format (MeGUI, EAC3to, Foobar2000, BeSweet etc.).

Ryu77, Tried all of that, came close once but the last 10min were silent. The best I could get converting to avi or Divx was Stereo. Finally used ConvertX to convert it to a DVD9, which gave me good quality with 5.1, then AutoGK for an avi
This was the only way. The was THE LONG WEEKEND [ http://www.mininova.org/tor/2775640 ]
Any of those that U mentioned Audio would B out of Sync
