What type of mod do you have on it? Hard or soft? Have you tried the wii disc cleaner? I am in the midst of trying to solve the same issue my friends Wii has, his is hard modded, not with a wiikey but a soldered on chip.

Slightly off topic but don't wanna start a new thread for it, so my friends wii got disassembled and cleaned fully, (man it was gross inside) and ran the disc cleaner thru it but with no luck yet. I'm just going to replace the drive in it I think then soft mod it for him. Does it matter what drive I purchase for it? I have seen a few different options on ebay, any suggestions?

Next time you should start a new thread. But since the OP has fixed the issue I will answer you this time rather then reporting your post.

The drives are universal. They will work in all systems.
