Just loaded DVD Shrink on my friends computer. Installation ok. Copied dvd to hard drive, however, when I went to burn to disk, DVD Shrink does not recongize the burner in the select target device...can anyone tell me where I went wrong?
Shrink has no burning capability, but it can use DVD Decrypter or Nero to achieve burning. This means you must have Decrypter or Nero installed on your machine (or any other burning program, but in that case Shrink won't run it automatically).
DVD Decrypter is freeware. You can only burn DVDs with it.
Nero costs 70 dollars (or 50 euros). It can burn CDs and DVDs. A trial version is available.
i have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter installed on my computer....but everyone seems to talk of Nero!! does anyone think Nero is worth having to pay for?? excuse the newbie.......
If all your burnings are backups of commercial movie DVDs, then DVD Decrypter is enough. Save your money.
But if you want to copy music CD or to burn home movies from your camcorder, then Decrypter does not help. With Nero you get CD/DVD burning, video editing, MPEG-2/4 encoding, DVD authoring and more. Plus Recode (a twin of DVD Shrink). Plus a tool that lets you use an RW CD/DVD as a floppy disc. IMHO it's worth the money.
