every time i want to join xbox live it says
"a system update is available from xbox live.....etc"
so if i updated my modded xbox will it effect it and i won't e able to play copied games or it will destroyed it.

DONT UPDATE. IT WILL DESTROY YOUR CONSOLE. DOING THE UPDATE BLOWS THE FUSES ON A FLASHED CONSOLES DVD DRIVE, THUS RENDERING IT USELESS.

Come on wabash, don't scare the newbies like that. We all know those fuses can be replaced. And besides that, the newer Jasper models don't have fuses, they have circuit breakers (just reset them and GO!)

I came here looking for the same answer, and now all you little nerd edited by ddp have me red in the face with your responses. Um, hello... people searching on Google are not all members of your little nerd club and you can't expect us to know what you took the time to learn instead of going out and getting some pizza and having a life.
All you pissant little Commodore users need to realize that no one in the whole world thinks you're a badass cuz you can mod consoles. None of you is writing any proprietary code or doing anything at all that hasn't been done before. We're not impressed.
I'm gonna go update my modded 360 now. That would be the 360 I paid some little kid a measly $25 to mod, because none of you has the nuts to charge a fair price for yourselves, relative to the game savings. After it's updated, i'm going cut my hair around a bowl, and then I'm going to get slapped about by my wife ? which is something none of you little geeks knows anything about!

Actually, I think you've got that backwards. I did use Google to find the answer I needed ? it was on this thread. Then I used Google to figure out what you meant by LOL WUT. So it looks like YOU should've used Google before you posted "LOL WUT!" And yes, I'm sounding like a tool, but it's at will. You're a full member of a nerd site. That makes you a tool whether you open your mouth or not.

Not trying to incur any nerd rath or anything, but lemmie just say I agree with homeboy to an extent, he's just going about it the wrong way. I too wish that when noobs like myself and others comes to afterdawn asking what seems to be thee stupidest question ever to those of you with the most knowlege on these matters, we could just get a simple straight forward answer from you all without making us feel like total freaking morons for not knowing what is obviously common knowlege to you. This board is here, I'm assuming, to help people not to make people feel stoopid.

Yeah, I agree with it to some extent myself, Apexx. I've been a noob on boards before where I have been treated badly just because of my post count. So I understand where folks like yourself are coming from.
On the flip side of the coin, understand where these posters are coming from. Sure, some people are just dicks for no reason other than they are fat nerds who get off on treating people like trash. Either that, or they are just young kids who are really immature. However, those people are definitely in the minority.
If members of this forum seem cynical, it's due to the sheer amount of clueless people who post ridiculous questions. I am sure you know the type, and obviously you are not it. They are the people who want everything spoonfed to them without doing any research what-so-ever, or they are just completely void of any common sense at all. Then, when people provide a link, or recommend the search function, they get indignant about people not wanting to serve them on a silver platter.
People who help others on this forum are doing so because it is a hobby, and because they want to help out. Many people, myself included, don't work in an industry in any way related to technology. If you met me on the street, you'd have no ideas what my hobbies are (well, except for that T-shirt, of course). Senior members post here out of the goodness of their heart, and not out of any obligation. A little research and a little respect goes a long way when you need help.
