apparently people at nzbmatrix are saying that cars race o rama has a new 4th wave video and that 1.51 boots it but with 1.6 you need to insert the activate.iso here are the comments
looks like there is a new wave of video in this do not burn yet wait for new firmware

this is wave 4, 1.51 fw will boot it. If you have 1.6 you need to use the activate.iso/one-shot boot mode until a new fw is released, more info on that in the 1.6 nfo http://www.xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo1712.nfo

Well that's one game hardly anybody cares about. I think maybe there will be a new iXtreme to load these 4th wave future titles. Nothing to worry about.

lol yea, you would think they would come out with wave 4 on like modern warefare 2 to piss us off, not give us a heads up with cars, who is the master mind behind their security & anti-piracy team? jack black?

Anybody got a screen shot of ABGX? I've got a XBOX 360 that hasn't had the August 12th update some I'm curious to see if this could be the cause of the Wave 4.

well i just called MS about it, and the guy told me it will only affect us with modded consoles. the reasoning behind it was to correctly identify modded consoles so they can be banned the week before COD6 comes out.

I'd say the August 12th update will be applied to disc to force users to update. That would probably be the Wave 4.
If that is put in the same place as the wave 3 update on the disks, there will be no need for a new iXtreme then.

a lil off topic, but since i suck at IRC related stuff, how do i get into the FW channel. i have mirc installed.
on topic, stupid wave 4. now i will have to update a lot of consoles.

should be safe, you arent patching the games to make them work as people did with 1.5. but, dont take my word on this as im just speculating.

Well, If the update is on the same place on the wave 4 discs then we'll be fine, If it's on a different spot of the disc 1.51 wont even load the disc (I think this is how it works.) If I read correctly 1.5 added protection on it where if it didn't match up it wont even load. So you would be safe but you wouldn't be able to play... Did I get that right?

Okay just wondering because a buddy of mine is going to be flashing my Hitachi drive to 1.51 for me. Would the best bet to be to get a Benq drive and flashing that to 1.51 instead seeing as iXtreme updates those drives?

i would just wait a week and see what happens here and go from there. this way you dont have to reflash it then as it appears we are all going to have to do.

Well c4 definitely just also confirmed wave 4. Sucks that this happens right before modern warfare 2 release....

you have to connect to one of the servers on efnet
then to join a channel type
/join #(room you want to join)
example: /join #fw
Also, I only skimmed through this thread, but the reason for the new wave 4 is because of NXE 8498 update)

It works on both. IX 1.51 you don't have to do anything, just put the game in and it boots right up. IX 1.6 you have to run the activate ISO to run One Shot Boot Mode and then you can play the game. No biggie. We can do that for now and let the firmware team take their time on the new iXtreme.
ABGX360 will need an update though.

I thought that the activate.iso is non-stealth mode? Not good. Hopefully an update soon. Time to update a billion consoles....DOH!
