Is this an "official" hddss.bin file, like from the 250GB HDDs that came with the Call of Duty MW2 consoles?
Or is this a hex edited .bin file?
I only want to upgrade from my 20GB (483MB left) to a 250 (and spare 360 HDD case) that I have, and use my transfer cable to load from the 20 to the 250, didn't want to have to use the Xplorer360, etc because I still want to "safely" go on Xbox Live.

yes this is from the MS official HD. i believe it was from the EU forza 3 package though.

Hmm... will that still work properly if I were to attempt it being in the US? I have a spare HDD around, which means no extra cost out of my pocket, and I'm really not keen on spending the $165 (after taxes) on a 120GB from M$ for a 360 drive. All I want it to expand my space because my 20GB is down to (483MB). I don't care for any other "modding". :(

Does anyone know if I could use the Microsoft HDD transfer kit to move all my stuff from my current HDD to the new 250 or does it have to be done in Windows?

I don't see why not. I know people who have done it with the 20 to 120GB (had spare hdd case did the 120GB upgrade, transfer cable from the 20 to 120).
They followed the steps using the hddhackr and then allowing the 360 to format the drive, transferred from 20GB hdd to 120GB hdd and worked fine for them.
I wonder what's the best method to remove data from an HDD to format it to "raw".... performing a DBAN?

if you used the 160 gig HD you would have to use the 120 SSHD.bin file. as for the transfer kit, i dont think it is compatible with the new 250 gig HDs. but 360xplorer is very easy to use.

Damn that's bad news for him, having to to lose 40GB. Sucks... why won't the 250GB hddss.bin read the 160?

I'm over analytical like that, and I can't understand why the 250 hddss wouldn't allow one to fully assess their 160GB hard drive or even 180GB (which you can get from an external HDD).

Because the drive can be "bigger" than the smaller bin to utilize whatever size the smaller bin is written for, but the "bigger" bin cannot utilize a smaller drive because it's looking for 250GB to start off with. Example, if you have a 280GB drive you could use the 250 bin. The drive has to be the same size or larger than the bin you are putting on it for it to utilize the space.

sorry for the noob question but this is the first time I have stumbled upon this thread. are you able to take a spare hdd that isn't a xbox one and flash it to work on a xbox or are you simply getting another xbox hdd and transferring information from your old one to it?

Yeah I already did it thanks a lot Wabashman, the new hddhackr 1.22 is very easy to use I had no problem at all and this is my first time ever doing it, but now I have to wait for my case to reach I thought it would have got it today.

Yes you can, but it has to be one of the hard drives that are listed in the read me file included with hddhackr. I recently flash a 250 hard drive that I got out of a laptop. This was my first time doing it and all I did was read this same thread and found all the answers as well as the answer to your question. So you really should read more carefully.

Hi, i am new and i have attempted searching and reading under "wd3200bmvs hddss undo.bin". does anyone have the original hddss for said drive? The story follows.
i am asking for help, i created my 250gb hd for my xbox360 using a wd3200bmvs (worked great). now i'm thinking about selling it (or downgrading it) and restoring the orignal hddss. problem is i messed it up somehow :)
