from what i understand/been reading in the FW channel, the problem is because crap media (non-verbs) dont react the same way that verbs do, thus not letting them boot.
so instead of saying f-u to those cheap people that refuse to spend 5 bucks more on a pack of discs for the free games, they will add more code in to make crap discs work.

they should just let it go and make ppl get verbs how cheap do you want things to be free firmware free games the money that you save and ppl still get cheap ass media that are not much cheaper than verbs!!!

I do see a problem with that though. Aren't the indian verbs really ****y too? If people start accidently using anything other than singapore verbs it could really mess things up?

Man, what a load of shit. I'm soooooooooooooo glad I ordered a Benq off ebay recently. When it arrives, I'm spoofing my Liteon with it and will flash the Benq to 1.41 Non-stealth and play wave 4/5/6/7/8 games with no problems. After reading that little expose' about all the behind the scene crap that has went on, I think everyone else should do the same before the prices on BenQ drives skyrocket.
Of course, if you REALLY want to go on-line with your 360 (and pray you don't get banned) I guess you're at C4E's mercy waiting for LT and watching excuse after excuse roll by.
No, I'm not a firmware programmer but really, how hard is it to release a non-stealth version of iXtreme for Lite-on drives for people that will never connect to Live?

i've been using both MII and MIS, havent had a single problem with either one. what i use usually depends on which ones sams club has at the time.

i got 10 indian verbs all worked fine they might not be as got though so that might be a problem but only the firmware team could say if it would be

Perhaps I may need to switch to verbs LOL soon... you guys seem to know what you are talking about when it comes to choosing media but since i never had any issues after using Memorexes for over a year why start now? lol
I Buy 50 pack of Memex for $30USD... Verbs cost $75+
what can I say? i'm a cheap bastard. Maybe LT will make me finally upgrade my stacks.

verbs dont cost 75+. i can get a 50 pack all day long at sams club for 60 bucks. and if you shop around online, you can usually get 20 for 20, 30 for 30 deals.

You are probably right, I never really shopped around much for Verbs since the Memxes were so cheap and never had any problems with it. I'll start using Verbs with the new firmware.

The problem if they released the fw now and only verbs worked would be, not only lots of whining from ppl who want games that should £45 for 50pence but also the price of verbs would skyrocket and it would be an unfair competition on the market.

No, I'm not a gene0915 but really, how hard is it to be overly-critical & ungrateful? Apparently, not very hard at all.
And by the way, for those who will never connect to Live, there are firmwares already out there. LT is for those who have the patience to wait on a firmware that combats M$'s recent actions, better than previous firmwares.

The price of verbs are not going to sky rocket if only verbs are compatible, thats just silly. But yeah a lot of people who whine and complain about that though. I've switched to verbs completely for the quality, even if they do cost an extra few cents per disc.

Yea, Ive never had a problem with MEMOREX either. But I guess if they are having problem I may switch. I might as well redo them all anyways as before I was banned on ~Nov. 9th-10th, I had been using a Samsung SH-D163B with Kreon V1.00 to rip my games (ripped about 35, THANKS BLOCKBUSTER - Unlimited game rentals for $30/month). But now since I've read reports about the SSV2 ISSUE with KREON drives....I decided I was just going to use a SPARE xbox 360 dvd drive and use 0800 to rip my games instead. So, I took a spare Hitachi that I had froma non-working 360 and spoofed it to my BANNED 360, taking out the BENQ from the banned for use to rip games. Hopefully should have no issues now.
However I had got my xbox 360 in September before the ban wave started and news about IX firmware bans, issues, etc. came out. TOTALLY Bad timing to finally get a console....hadn't had one since my PLAYSTATION 1 about 9 years ago!!!
Now since I got two rrod in September and fixed them (one from 2006 other from late 2007 w/hdmi), I have bought 3 additional 360s and this past friday just bought 3 PS3s (All YLOD). So, for about 9 or 10 years I had no consoles and nowin 2 months I have 8 of them LOLOL.
Should be getting the first PS3 today, can't wait to fix it up and get one workign for myself....next one is for my buddy....last one is going for sale. I sold one of my first 360's to my buddy, kept the other (which is banned now). I'm keeping at least 1 of the 2 360s I just got and fixed for myself and left unmodded (at least til LT coems out).....and not sure by I may keep the second too (either for a non-mod console....or for a second backup in case the other one gets banned with LT).
I just wish I got on the bandwagon a year or more ago...then at least I would of got some good time in on LIVE. I started playing COD WAW got hooked, got banned....and now i'm playing MW2 via Xlink Kai.....bad time to get hooked on COD....

The problem with using Memorex is that they don't manufacture their own discs. They outsource it to a few different companies. And a couple of those make some really crap media. So when someone picks up a pack of Mem's, it's really a crap shoot.
How's that xlink working out for you? I've read that with the 360's really low ping, you'd need to be playing with people fairly close to your location.

25pk Memorex $19. Price per disc - 76 cents.
30pk Verb $40 (they don't do 25's). Price per disc - $1.33
50pk Memorex $33. Price per disc - 66 cents.
50pk Verb $80. Price per disc - $1.60
Heck of a difference. Either way, if you want to play games online, buy retail. Don't QQ at others.
PS, I love it when people on forums like this yell at others for being cheap. Hey, if you wasn't cheap too, you wouldn't be on this site. Think about it and get off your high horse.

Its all well & good suggesting everyone uses verbs from now on, but if the checks are sooo precise that using a slightly inferior brand
could be detected, then so could a "slightly inferior batch" of verbs (mass production always has quality fluctuations) ;)
Hence personally, I dont think a "just use verbs" approach would be safe.

Yea, about the Memorex DVDs....yea I've always known they are made from outsourced contracts. I've always got ones that have been made by a better known manufacturer (IE when u put blank disc in you can see the actual "brand name", for example Ritek or whatever.
But the same goes for Verbs as well....there are ones that come from outsourced plants in 3rd world countries, etc. that have tured out to be just as crap and the crap dvd out there. So really, you taking a crap shoot anyways. Just comes down to where stores around you get there stock from.
About Xlink Kai.....its pretty good to be honest. Yea, you gotta have people in your region but if you live anywhere with a decent population chances are you will find enough people to get a decent game going. I treid LEAF...its HACK.....tried XBC ...its HACK....
I'm in Toronto and when I go on KAI after work...I see usually 10-20 people I can play with. Ive had a few good games here or there....if there were more people on it, it would be much better. but not alot of people know about it or know what to do. IN its current state of coarse it dosent make up for live...but if ur banned at least its a way to get soem kills in without playing singleplayer.....
good enough for me til LT comes out or I rent something so I can play on my un modded 360s (only have GH3 and GHWT that are actual retail copies lol). and if I was going to buy a game....i'd rather get one for PS3 since no fear of bans as well as no ability to play copied games.....so might as well spend the money toward something liek that then toward a game I coudl just copy once LT comes out
ALTHOUGH I WOULD BUY MW2 for 360 IN A SECOND LOL....fighting the urge til I get my hands on the PS#s to fix....then well see if I will need to buy or not
