to buy Verbs or not to buy Verbs? That is the question.
Honestly, I only use verbs and that's good for me. If you dont want to use Verbs then dont! I dont give a shi!t what other people use, I just know what is best for me and my 360

Please as my very first burns also still work and any coaster was made due to my fault or my aging desktop. Tit for tat all the way.
Sigh, don't you see that you don't have actual stats and facts that backup what people say about Verbs? Do you have two identical PC's and have made 1000 burns on each and tested the results? Where is your studies, your tests made by actual reputal sources?
Show me facts and the science, not personal stories.

I have maybe 5 or 6 games burned on memorex because i just happened to have a ten pack. Now that i know that verbs are the way to go im afraid to play my memorexes. Should i just burn using verbs from now on or should i re-burn my memorex games on verbs?

after doing research, and testing it out myself, i believe them. i've done the comparison with verbs and memorex. not knowing the difference ten years ago, all my burns on memorex are ruined; they won't read at all.
in the longrun, verbs outlasted the memorex. cd or dvd, verbatim ink dye will last.

Thats all you got? Please man, I got quite a few PS2 games on Memorex single layer that load fine even thou I don't know why you would want to play a PS2 game now. And yes, who don't have binders and binders full of cdr's, dvdr's, and dvdr dl's?
The point is, I can accept that people buy Verb, Sony, TDK, whatever and I don't call them names. Why can't you? There is a point where advice turns into bashing then finally trolling.

I could go home after work and pick out 3-5 brands of discs from 15 years ago and test them if you want. Point is, that is still personal stories. Besides, environment impacts have to be considered. Were they in a binder, if so did the sleeve react chemically to the dye? Was it ever in a humid locatin for a duration of time? Ect ect.
I'm sorry but when I try to tell others that something is better, I give my advice and try to back it up with facts. Not bash others.

and all im saying is that they are cheap. which is true. if i had time i would gladly research and find you some cold hard facts that prove verbs are better than memorex, but frankly, i dont have the time. have a term paper due this coming monday, 40 hours of work this weekend alone, and other crap that needs to get done. so perhaps when i get time next week, i will get your tables and graphs that you requested to prove that memorex sucks compared to verbs.

Actually you are calling people cheap and bashing them for using a product that you don't care for.
Take all the time you need but I don't think you want to spend the time and money it would take to do actual research. Obviously you would need a control group like Sony or TDK and I'm sure buying hundreds of each brand would cost more then you would like.

or i will just do my research online, as i know for a fact there was a thread on here sometime earlier this year, or late last year that actually had graphs and tables that compared verbs, memorex, and i believe TDK and sony to each other. they factored in average length that the discs were usable after being burnt to, quality of the burns, die quality, and 4 or 5 other variables. it will just take some time to find it. i think it was in the 360 section, but it could have been elsewhere on this site.

however you could just search 'verbatim vs memorex' on here and you will find that 99.9% of the threads/articles are dealing with not being able to burn/read to/from memorex discs. which i would consider proof enough. havent even seen a thread about not being able to burn to a verb and im three pages in.

Because I'm not the one saying that Brand A is better than Brand B. I've always said simply that it wasn't worth the extra costs. And I'm not bashing others while saying it either.

Sorry but it goes back to the media section bit, thats not exactly a good pool of info. And again, simply can't be verified. All I'm asking for is something credible to back up your statement that Verbs are so much better then Memorex or any other brand that everyone should be using them.
Been fun chatting with ya but you are sounding like a broken record that keeps repeating the same lines. Just like every other topic like this that comes up.

I used to burn all PS2 games that would fit on a CD on Memorex discs, and they worked great. Somehow, someway, over time the quality of Memorex discs just seem to have diminished. I picked up a 50 pack of dual layers for $35. I knew of the bad reviews, but I thought if I could get away with 10 or so bad burns it would be worth it. I got a total of 9 games out that 50 pack. And those 9 games gave me all sorts of problems. Not reading at all, freezing, coming up as dirty or damaged, etc. I just wound up tossing them in the trash. Worst $35 I've ever spent.
Now I will never purchase another Memorex disc again, but that doesn't mean all cheap media is bad. I have had as much success with Windatas (60 cents per disc) as I have with Verbatims. Not a single bad burn, or disc read error. The only problem I have encountered through 60 or so discs is for whatever reason, one of the movies I burned will not play on my 360. It plays fine on my computer, PS3 and DVD player, but it just won't work on my 360. Other than that, no problems at all.
My old 360 disc drive start failing on me, and I don't know if the cause was using the Windatas or not. I have two brothers who both use a mix of Windatas and Verbatims, so if their drives start crapping out I can say it was the Windatas that caused it. That being said, I have been spending the extra money and burning everything to Verbatims, as I just bought a brand new console and don't want to take any chances.

I think they are just buying time with the Verbatim stuff. They want to see if Microsoft stops banning people before making the firmware public. They figure if the bans stop, the firmware should be good until at least Novemeber 2010 before everyone gets banned again.
