is it because of the name of the iso file?

Alright I updated the guide again. Different way to convert ISO files to WBFS files. Hope this is more clear.

Use IMGBurn to rip the game ISO to your PC (it is freeware). Also wait untill I get the guide updated with new GUI and directions on how to use it (I am working on it now).
ok i ripped my burned dvd-r game into my pc using imgburn and the iso2bwfs.bat file is still now converting it. anyidea why this is happening?

I updated the guide. Refresh the page and redownload the file and follow the ISO Prepration section again (it has been updated).

Another great complement to the softmod guide. But you could have added the usb loader wad to the softmode, just for time saving sake ;)

I don't quit understand what your saying. Are you saying I should have added this to the softmod guide?

You sure it is a good backup?

It shouldn't have any issue converting it if you did the steps right.

You placed the Backup disc in your drive and started IMGBurn and select READ from the mode drop down menu?

No just the USB wad file.
USB Loaders are updated frequently.

How could uninstalling an older version wad file then installing the new verison wad file be simpler then just changing out the dol file from the USB Device?

Also I have a CFG USB Loader forwarder so you can launch it from the Wii channel anyway.

yes i placed the backup disc in my drive and create iso from the cd on imgburn and put the iso file with the iso2bsfw to convert it but it wont do it. it keeps saying its not a wii cd or no such directory file

It's all good. I am a lazy dude so it would just save me from taking the SD card from the wii lol

Anyway just confirming that everithing works just fine. Even with extracted isos (like wii chess is 30 MB test).

How do i get the pictures to work?

First off I changed the guide so use the GUI that I updated the guide with.

Do you have another backup you can try?

You still don't make sense. You say your lazy but it would be quicker and easier to switch out a DOL file rather then uninstalling an old WAD version and installing the new version.

Read the read me file for instructions with images.

Is it necessary to update often? For me as long as it's working ill never touch it again. So it would be simpler to just follow the guide and then install the WAD that is in this thread archive. Perhaps i am not understanding how it works, i thought that the wad manager would work like a linux package manager. It would be great if it could just download and install updates from the network.

I don't really play much, this is just for the kids during the holly-days.

I got the images to work ;)

Thank you once more :)

I bought a new wii this morning. softmodded following your guide without any issues. continued to follow this guide as well. The USB loader appears in the channel list but when I select it the screen goes black for a few seconds and then it goes back to the wii channel screen. It does this regardless if there is a usb device connected.

any thoughts on where I went wrong?

ya mine fades to black as well when nothing is in the USB slot. mine only runs when i have the usb key in the wrong slot then switch it to the proper slot..it says mounting device then OK then hangs.

i guess my USB key isnt compatible

The channel is only a forwarder. So if the USB Device is not in or is not compatible then it can not find the files to load the CFG USB Loader file.

Make sure you have the device plugged in properly.

Make sure it is a compatible USB Device.

Make sure the USB Loader files and backups are on the USB Device properly.

Check the USB Device compatibility list to see if your USB Device is listed. Also read the notes to see if there is anything special you have to do (Example: My brothers Free Agent has to be unpluged when turning on the system. As soon as the system menu is up you can plug the USB Device back in and launch the USB Loader).

If your device is not listed then more then likely it isn't compatible.

1. Open your SD card.
2. Find your wads folder.
3. Is the file "USBLoaderCFG_NForwarder-UCXF-Channel.wad" in there?
4. No?
5. Go back to your "USB loader pack" downloaded file.
6. Extract the "Extract to SD card" folder.
7. Open Wads folder
8. Select and copy "USBLoaderCFG_NForwarder-UCXF-Channel.wad"
9. Go back to your SD card
10. Find Wads folder
11. Paste "USBLoaderCFG_NForwarder-UCXF-Channel.wad" into the wads folder.

Your wads must be in your wads folder in order to operate.

hey guys, i just followed larry's flawless softmod tut which linked me here. that went great until the hermes section(not nearly as good as larrys guide)and now im confused. following that guide im trying to install ios249 but im confused at:
# Push A to allow it to reload the default IOS.
# Read the message, then push 1 or Start when prompted to continue.
# Choose "Downgrade IOS15" with the D-pad and push A.

it says ios36 but i have no idea if that is the default ios mentioned. also, it seems like i just did some of these steps in the softmod but im not quite sure. can anyone clarify this hermes section alittle for me? thanks in advance.
edit: nevermind, clearly its late cuz i totally misread the instructions. good to go now.

Then you did something wrong.

Start again and make sure you follow the instructions.

I have a somewhat similar problem to other people in this forum - when I use the forwarded the first time it seems to access the USB HD but then returns to the Wii menu. On the second try it works perfectly and I can load games from the HD. The same occurs again if I exit Configurable USB Loader and come back to it again without a power off. Any ideas of possible options I have set incorrectly?

USB drive (WD essentials 120 GB portable HD) is on compatibility list,
4.2E system menu homebrewed using Waninkokos cIOS (249 and 250)
Hermes cIOS (202, 222 and 223). Major applications installed other than Configurable USB loader are MPlayerCE (with USB2.0 support), Priiloader and BootMii.
