Any ideas of possible options I have set incorrectly?

USB drive (WD essentials 120 GB portable HD) is on compatibility list,
4.2E system menu homebrewed using Waninkokos cIOS (249 and 250)
Hermes cIOS (202, 222 and 223). Major applications installed other than Configurable USB loader are MPlayerCE (with USB2.0 support), Priiloader and BootMii.
As I said before check the compatibility list and see if there are any special things you need to do to get your particular drive to work.

If you got the drive to be detected once then the USB Loader is fine.

Hi again.

I am having a few problems with Metroid Prime Triology not running, is there any particular fix for this game?

Also is it possible to use cISO files? The simple GUI only allows selection of ISO files no cISO files, is there a different tool for this? Is it still possible to have a FAT32 partition and use cISO or do we have to Format the drive to WBFS, is this new partition compatible with Configurable BootLoader?

Basically what i am asking is how do i play cISO files using my current configuration (i just followed your guides and have a FAT32 partition for my games and backups).

Thanks! larry in advance.

i thought i should also add that the file i tried to convert is (game title).nrg and I couldnt find it when i browsed for it with the gui converting program, but i could see it when browsing with my pc.

also i am using a western digital passport 250 gb usb 2.0, seemed to be the most recommended for 250gb devices.

nrg is am Nero extension. Just change it to .iso instead of .nrg

The metroid prime needs to use Alt.dol fix. For more information on this go to the USB GAME COMPATIBILITY LIST I have added at the end of the guide.

I have never used cIOS backup files so I can't answer that question.

I have checked the compatibility list and no special requirements are needed. However, problem still persists. It is just annoying that I have to run the channel twice to get things rolling.

It has to be due to the USB HDD your using. I have used these steps on a few USB HDD's and they all work fine.

Thanks just checked it.

BTW, It's not .cIOS backup file it's a .CISO file (compressed ISO) file. I'll give it a try with a different tool.

This happend to other drives as well it is an HDD power issue and not related to this. I use this same drive to connect to DVD USB port and the same thing happens it's an HDD issue.

You just need to do it once to load the USB HDD, so i don't think it's a big deal to push a button, just push the HDD button after you push the Wii btn and there ya go.

Making progress. I now go to the usbloader and it says ios 222 could not be loaded, i went through the hermes section and followed it. seems like i met all the requirements but as it says, the ios 222 could not be loaded . then it says something in brackets like "(- 4 100)"

UPDATE! FINALLY GOT IT WORKING, had to do some backtracking and follow the guide more closely but its now running perfectly and i can now attest for larry and inform everyone that ALL the steps are there, just read them carefully, for me in particular i messed up with the ios 222, i accidently installed ios 202 instead, i wasnt paying any attention and would like to apologize to larry on behalf of all the other dummies out there for asking the same damn questions and not following the guide carefully enough and without him or his attentive nature to his guides, i and im sure a lot of other people wouldn't even have the privilige to mod their 4.2 consoles.

THANK YOU LARRY I LOVE YOU, i was a bit discouraged by all the instructions but the whole process, if done properly could take less than an hour, im sure even in just minutes. YOU ARE AWESOME. I FUCKIN LOVE THIS. WAHOOO!!1

Hey thank's for this great tutorial. It work perfectly for me.

My only problem is that the games appear without cover and with an unrecognisable name. Can I change the games names and how can I get covers.

Thank's

Read the USB loader instruction. You can get covers by going to global options and download covers (to go to global covers follow the onscreen instructions of the loader - select a game press 1 for option then press 1 for global option and select download covers, select left cross to download all cover or right to download missing covers. some covers are missing.... perhaps a diff link roll is necessary other usb loader gx has better cover support but not as many option config usb loader is best for me too). If your wii is not connected to the internet you can use something like http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165139 on Linux it's awesome. For windows there really isn't a good one that i found with covers.

Also if anyone is using cISO (compressed iso files) Wii Backup manager v0.3.1 is awesome! It can handle partition rar files also. It has a bit more features than Simple GUI that Larry uses. Too bad it does not download covers.

How about reading the post just above your post. Reading past post can be helpful as well.

I am looking into changing the program to the mentioned one above but it will not be done untill I get the time.

Don't want to be rude, but as you found out earlier, people don't read NFO's or Read me files anymore, so it'd prob also be worth mentioning in there somewhere that they can also install diskds straight to thier USB device by pressing the "+" button on the wiimote.

Just a thought! ^o^

I have never had that issue so I wouldn't know how to help.

Are you using 3rd party controllers or are they Official Nintendo Wiimotes? I know I used my sisters 3rd Party Wiimote and it sucked. Kept unsyncing and wouldn't sync back up.

Im using wii controller and i played press your luck and balls of fury and both wouldnt let me add a 2nd player. Balls of fury showed to push a & b to select player 2 and it wouldnt.

Also, your guide, I had no problems setting it up and its a new wii as of 2 days ago with 4.2u firmware. Played 4 games already and the 1st one locked up, so i restarted the wii and never froze again.

Any help appreciated - I'm unable to get the loader to mount/recognize my Seagate FreeAgent Desk 500GB USB drive. The drive has multiple confirmations on the compatibility list, so I'm presuming it's not a disk compatibility problem.

I recently followed Larry's tut for softmod to cIOS38_rev14 (my 1st attempt, new Wii purchased on 12/5/09). Wii may have been upgraded to 4.2 prior to softmod, but didn't think that's now an issue. The softmod appeared to go just fine and I'm able to run HBC, installed wads for USB loader, NeoGamma, and Homebrew Browser - all launch OK, but neither USB loader or NG mount the connected drive. It's plugged into the upper USB port on the back of the console. I disabled the power save features, used guiformat to format the drive to FAT32, extracted the appropriate folders/files to the USB's root (matches the guide), connect the drive which auto-starts along with the Wii, but USB loader times out when attempting to mount with a -1 error code thrown.

Should I perform the whole mod process again? This (USB loader) guide is straight forward and I've confirmed each step multiple times. I don't have another compatible USB drive to test - I purchased this one specifically for this purpose after checking the compatibility list.

Suggestions appreciated!

Turn on your Wii system and wait for the Wii menu to come up. Now unplug the Segate HDD then plug it back in. Wait for the HDD lights to come back on. Now try loading the USB Loader.

See if this works.
