Yes it is.

Try following the steps I gave a few pages back. The member was having the same issue as you.
Ok, i'll read back. But just out of curiousity, how long is this step supposed to take? Cause it's been initializing for 5 minutes now and i'm not sure if the system has crashed or if it's doing anything...
And if the problem's with the connection how come i was able to download firmware?

It is trying to connect to the net but it is having issues.

cIOS38_rev14 can casue issues with LAN Adapters if they are placed in the improper USB slot.

Anyway the post I am talking about is on page 14.

I have added it to the guide as well.

OK, i'll try that as soon as the site comes back up , because the "
Download this file HERE and extract it. " part is under some kind of maintenance..

Man, you're one patient and helpful dude, thank you for that.

cIOS38_rev16 has allot of issues with it, rev14 is the most stable version.

Any cIOS over rev13 has the USB Loader added. This means that 1 USB slot will work for USB storage devices. You use the other slot for USB hardware that the Wii uses.

It seems the only users that have this issue is those that don't have WiFi or are using a Network Adapter. In this case then follow the added part for those that do not have WiFi to resolve the initializing error when following the hermes section.

I have a big problem, I got my Wii last month, so it's a new moddel I'm guessing. Version 4.2U, I did everything that's on you're guide I believe I did it Flawlessly. I get the Error Code "DVD Read Error - 1101". Does that mean that I really CAN'T play burned games for my Wii?

Yes, you are unable to play burned dvd's with recent wii's. I purchased a wii last year and this guide is flawless! it works grrreat. but i recently purchased another this past december and burned dvd's will not play.

Larry a few questions if i may. But first your guide is flawless and works grrreat! thank you very much. first question: when i turn the wii on, the external is also connected and turns on at the same time. but the external hdd only works if i unplug it on and off after the wii is on. is there any way for it to turn on at the same time as the wii does and have it automatically work? When the wii starts i go to "configurable usb loader" option and it just resets itself back to it. and 2nd when i am playing a game and i exit, is it possible to return back to wii menu without having to restart the wii to choose another game? about half work proper but the other half i have to restart the wii to change game. (sorry it's a long message)

Just registered to say what a great guide. Simple and very effective. Thank you very much. Spent a while reading up to understand as much as I could first and the guide is well written and presented. Success first time. Thanks again to the author.

How about asking USB loader questions in the USB Loader guide.

Then, I wanted to know, what are other ways of playing backup games. I have a my PS3 80GB 2.5 Hard Drive in a case that I use, it's formatted to FAT32. I have checked other ways to use USB Loader, but I have a problem. When I find games such as "Brawl" it's a game that is way past the single layer Disck space. My 80GB Hard Drive for some reason does not allow a transfer of no more than 4GB that's it, how am I suppose to get those games in the Hard Drive to play them on USBLoader? Thanks For Reply

The application that converts the games to WBFS will split the file at the 4GB mark making 2 files .wbfs and .wbfs1. Just follow the USB loader guide I have linked in this guide (or in my sig). If you have more USB loader questions please ask it in that thread.

Thanks for this great guide! Opened a brand new LU64 Wii and updated to 4.2U, then followed this guide and everything worked like a charm. My only question is: What is the significance of Dop-IOS mod? I stopped here as Snes9X and other emulators worked fine without. I havent tried NeoGamma as I believe these model Wii's have the new drive that can't read DVD-R's anyway. Thanks again!

As i mentioned before. i have followed your guide to the T and did not get a single error. Im am very thankful because of your guide, however whenever i try loading the burned backups using IMG Burn, Neogamma 7 is still not loading them. We've had our Wii since Q3 of 2008 so i should have the old optical drives.

I have tried with 5 different backups and still no luck. I have also scoured the net as to what speeds should i be burning the .iso's and have tried the following speeds x2 x3 x4 on DVD-R and DVD+R but none of them works. Neogamma keeps on telling me "DVD Error Code 1101"

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you once again!

DOP-IOS will update and patch all known IOS's that Wii games use. So I would recommend doing it.

If you followed it to a T then either...

You have a drive that will not play game backups.

Or your backup for some reason is not being made properly.

I don't know what else you want me to tell you.

Ok. I've re-read your guide again, and i noticed that you havent mentioned installing the DVDx. But prior to reading your guide i have already have the HBC, Bootmii and DVDx installed.

Do you think un-installing the DVDx would make any difference?

Thanks again for replying. Appreciate it! :)

No it would not make a difference.
