You can take it higher, but if I were you I would take it higher only for a couple of hours, and make the 3.3Ghz my 24/7 speed.

BTW, what are your load temps(for the cores).

Oh and I DOUBT it's your CPU. Probably your motherboard holding you back.

That doesn't mean that it's your processor it could be one of the other settings below. Increase everything by the smallest allowed increment.

1.2v HT Voltage: 1.2v to 1.6v in 0.5v increments
NB Core Voltage: 1.2v to 2.0v in 0.5v increments
SB Core Voltage: 1.5v to 1.6v in 0.5v increments
CPU VTT Voltage: 1.2v to 1.55v in 0.5v increments

still gotta do testing on it
right now, i am feeling luck just cause it boots at the speed! i mean, before, it didn't want to go up even 50mhz!
the help Sophocles has provided is priceless
as soon as i get it tested, i will post the load temps...

does the multiplier get affected by these other voltages?
i mean the motherboard can go to 350mhz and 6x multiplier just fine, the problem starts if i use 350mhz fsb and 10x multiplier...

well with:
VCore: 1.5v
1.2v HT Voltage: 1.5
NB Core Voltage: 1.9
SB Core Voltage: 1.7
CPU VTT Voltage: 1.55
and still i cant do 350 x 10 = 3500 stable, it crashes right after loading windows....

It shouldn't but then I'm not there. Go back to the last settings and then try increasing them individually. I wish I could be more clear but distance overclocking a board I don't own is difficult. You know where all the settings are so experiment with then and see what comes up. I believe that you should be able to achieve and easy 3.5 GHz stable with your hardware but it will take some experimentation.

A self-restart usually means you got a BSOD, but you didn't see it because the PC instantly restarted. I see that a fair bit.

To be honest, you've done well with a Striker Extreme, they're not good boards for overclocking quad core CPUs - it's the board you should change if you want more, not the processor.

Soph: I've no need to force that on other people - 2x2GB is the logical way to go nowadays. However since I've already got my RAM there's no need to change it when I won't see any difference. Besides, i probably could change my timings and memory speed, I just haven't done so yet.

while it was in windows i managed to get it CPU-Z validated for 3.5ghz... http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=385928
is 1.5v okay for my CPU or am i damaging it?
thanks,

It's all about setting but if I had to guess where the fault lies it would be with your RAM.

Don't give up just work around it the best that you can. It will take some hit and misses to get things right.

Yeah from me too. Don't worry about it too much. A quad core at 3.2Ghz(assuming you get it stable at that), is a VERY respectable and powerful computer. It should more than hold you over till Nehalem.

It's well known that Quad cores don't overclock as well as dual cores, so don't lose too much heart. To be honest, I'm dubious the PSU is the problem, even though Ultra units aren't very good, they don't usually suffer the sort of problems that cause overclocks to fail easier. Running 8GB of RAM is going to hurt your overclock significantly, as is running four slots in an Asus nforce 600 series motherboard - in some of the 650i boards that won't even work at stock, let alone overclocked.

its stable now!!! well, for 30mins dual orthos
i am gonna let it run for some more time
even thought i am running the FSB : RAM UNLINKED, the RAM is still holding me back???
i am running at FSB: 1350 and RAM: 800 so why does this slow RAM effect my overclock???
if i were to get PC8500 RAM, would it help my overclock at all?
any of you who have a quad core, what kind of overclocks have you gotten?
thanks,
