A couple a days ago i started jtag my console.(Xenon)
I took 3 dumps and did the next steps jtagging not knowing
that i needed at least 2 identical dumps :s

I tried al 3 dumps (extracting kv- & config.bin / Injecting) hoping one
of them would be a good one :s

(Used XBR_Xenon_8955_3)

=> The console doens't boot anymore => Bad Dumps ?!

I tried the 'NAND Compare and Reconstruction Tool (V.1.2)' to
reconstruct a good 1 of the 3 bad nandumps but is not possible:

1016 non-matching blocks found
..
List truncated - too many

I can open al 3 dumps with degraded =

- nand1.bin => 4 Bad Blocks
- nand2.bin => 2 Bad Blocks
- nand3.bin => 2 Bad Blocks

For my TJAG-wiring => dumps done with the 3 resistors wiring diagram..

After that i used the 2 diode diagram with the jumper, hoping i could fix it that way.
Still i had a non-booting box !!

My LPT cable & wiring are OK .(Tested with multimeter) .. i think the bad dumps are the reason ..?!

Is there still hope for my console ??

Thx in advance

So you do not have two identical dumps of your original nand? If you already flashed XBR to the nand then your xbox is a paper weight now. There is no way to dumb your original nand now because you already wrote over it with XBR. If you already tried to make 1 good dump out of 3 bad dumps and it didn't work there is nothing you can do.

to put it nicely....throw it away. you are pretty much done with that console. the only hope you have is to flash back to one of the 3 original dumps you have and pray that it will boot. and once that happens, i would just leave it as that.

could also try not injecting config.bin and see if that helps, doubt it though.

Thx 4 the fast reply guys .. also tried not injecting the config.bin. => Dead !!
Strange that the degraded shows only a couple bad blocks while the compare &
reconstruct tool says like 1016 blocks.
Oh well ..Sad but true ...RIP X

Its a last shot, but you can try this...

1) extract both your kv.bin & config.bin from each of your NAND dumps (not from LPT/USB)

2) Compare the 3 extracted kv's make sure they match (use Total Commander)

3) fix your LTP wiring (must be bad wiring due to your previous matching dumps) until you can write xbr on to your xbox and read it back with no errors (the xbr image must match 100% with the original) to confirm your wiring is good. keep your cable as short as poss.

4) flash just your kv.bin to your nand (xbr should be on your NAND, due to previous step)

5) Unplug power or 30 seconds and try again.

6) if this fails, flash your config.bin

7) Unplug power or 30 seconds and try again.

8) Enjoy.

I know this works as I have done this myself

NOTE: TO ANYONE ELSE THAT STUMBLES ACROSS THIS THREAD, DO NOT USE THIS AS A EXCUSE NOT TO GET IDENTICAL DUMPS!!!! THIS IS A LAST RESORT

If one of your dumps contains at least a correct config block
and a correct kv block you still have hope!

So you need a proper config and kv block and you need your bad block map.
The bad block map can be seen with degraded.

I guess you have 2 bad blocks because nand2 and nand3 show that.
Even if that is wrong you can still find out the bad block map
by just writing your nand completely with nandpro. it will show
you all write errors and therefor you can write down the number of
each bad block. So write down the block numbers and you have a proper
bad block map.

So if you also have a correct config & kv block follow my tutorial here: link
which describes step by step how to install xbreboot on a xenon 360.

I suggest you simply try out the kv & config blocks of all your
3 nand images.

If one combination is correct and you follow my tutorial with it your
360 should work again.

But remember: This makes only sense if your wiring is OK *and*
if nandpro works correctly on your PC.

Good luck

That´s as correct for the keyvault as it is obvious... so no reason
to mention that. But the same goes for the config block.
That has to be correct as well. Anyway I presume rude is able
to do think about a simple compare on his own before flashing
a certain combination. So one naturally skips kv & config
combinations that do not differ.

Sorry mike, but rude obviously already read my tutorial...
by the way a hint for you: registration is free

my tutorial is in much more detail and more importantly
it is complete. Your description is also in part incorrect
because you advice him to compare the kv files from the 3
nand images without telling what this shall be good for.
You should remember that rude does not know which one is
correct if they differ. so he anyway has to try out each
different combination (kv & config) until he has found a correct one.
That might include the possibillity that in the worst case
all nine combinations (kv & config from 3 images) are different
and incorrect.
You also wrote nothing about a further major step to do.
He has to produce a correct bad block map to make XBR work.
my advice for you: never guess if you can read the facts

I agree that maybe I should of mentioned remapping the bad blocks but no need to try and get cocky

Thing is you are gussing yourself! How do you know these are real bad blocks? (280 vs 250) That's right you guessed!

Also, how do you know he read it? Did you guess?

Well, I think that my guess that if nand2 and nand3
have the same number of errors their correctness
is more propable than that from nand1 is justified while
yours about the content of my tutorial (which you did not even read) is not.
I also mentioned a sure way to find out the true
bad block map. So I do think you have no reason to
argue with me in that way.

I did not advice you to avoid guessing.
I wrote that you should not guess (about the content of my tutorial)
if you did not even read it (which you could have done).
That is something totally different. That´s it about that.

Thx for the help guys, no need 2 start a fight ;)
..4 now i'm comparing the 3 dumps with a hexeditor.
I hope this way i can rebuild my dump 2 a good one. There are equal parts
in al 3 files so i'm putting al the equals to 1 good (nand3).
I took nand3 because when i compare, this one has the most good parts asuming
that the equal parts are good ?! 4 the not equal blocks i'm 4 now leaving the nand3 values...This is gonna take 4ever ..but i already found lots a blocks i could fix this way and only few (2bit) NOT (wich i wrote down), so i still have hope.

The kv & config combinations resulted in nothing wich i kinda expected.

Before rebuildingd the dump i would compare the missing good blocks with another dump from a xenon 7371 with same dashboard, maybee that way i can find equals from the missing good blocks & so i would have as much good blocks as possible.. ?! !? :s I thinck ?!

..I Hope this will work !
I'll keep yall informed..

Rebuilding the nandumb seems 2 last 4 ever...

First gonna try rebuilding the kv & config and try them out..
The kv i already rebuilded resulting in only 3 bad (2bit) values.
Now the config & then i first gonna try them out...

If this doesn't work i can still continue the never ending nandbuild..

Good luck. BTW, i have actually flashed a normal xbr.bin (and injected the kv.bin) without remapping the bad block (single one), so give it a try without.

Also, a few questions

Did your extracted kv's match?
Were the latter 2 bad blocks on the same address? (degraded will tell you this)

Good luck

@ mik30, I'm really sorry about my previous comments, ill edit them out. I taken offense at the don't guess comment and admittedly over reacted. I don't think your a n00b at all (which obviously your not as per your techie type response). I should not of bit.

Degraded tells me:

Nand1 =
Bad block @ 0x17
Bad block @ 0x3E
Bad block @ 0x54
Bad block @ 0x6E

Nand2 =
Bad block @ 0x1A
Bad block @ 0x22

Nand3 =
Bad block @ 0xB
Bad block @ 0x305

But if i compare with a hexeditor it's full of non-equal parts/blocks !!??

Question:
Is there some kind of hexeditor or tool that can compare 3 files and reconstruct them automaticly if it finds a match in 2 or 3 of them and leaving the non-equal parts found between the 3 open ??

Comparing 2 files & rebuild = ok but 3 ???

That would save me lotssss a work !!!

BTW I Already tested the rebuilded kv but no luck there, so i think rebuilding the config & inject will have no effect either...

I used the partly rebuilded dump & got the kv & config from it.
Compared with the kv i rebuilded from the three bad dumps and it
seemd 2 have only a couple of bits difference !! So i used it &
guess what it's back 2 life !!! Also got my cpu key with xell !!

Everything seemd 2 B ok as i have the latest dashboard but it was not..

My dvd-drive just didn't want to close, so i can read no disks.
I took another drive i had laying around but that doesn't seems 2
work that way ..I need my dvd-key from my old drive.
I tried to obtain my drive key and its full with 7's ???? (777777....)
Wtf ? Can i obtain the right key from my nandump ??
Or do i need 2 hexedit the key from the drive & get it out of that file
somewhere...?? BTW i trie as much as possible 2 Google everything but now
i'm stuck... Again !!! :s Someone can help me on this one ?

Ok, after hours of searching finally found the solution 2 this problem.
Took the kv.bin from my partly rebuilded nand where the dvd key could
be found between F0 - FF. Injected it in my dvd-rom but this one doesn't
seems 2 do anything => probably broke !
Istalled the old one back & fixed the dvd-key on that one 2 because that
was the one with al the 7's.
Still doesn't seem 2 work; it instantly open when i boot the xbox & when i
close the drive it closes but goes straight back open !!!

??? Someone ???

Hi dude, sound like you have incorrecly flashed the firmware on your dvd drive as even with the incorrect drive key, it should still open.

You now need to do is open one of your NAND dumps in 360 flash tool, enter the CPU key you got from cell and you will be presented with your DVD key and original drive. You then need to use jungle flasher and manually spoof a drive with these details and you should be good to go.

TBH though, I rarely use my DVD drive on my jtagged box's anyway. Good luck and glad you revived your xbox.

I had this issue too. Try and put xex menu (the xex version) on a USB stick (in the correct folder content/0000000000000000) and then copy it across to your HDD that way.

I got a dvd-drive out of my other console & tried to inject the key in it.
I managed to start/boot the console with no errors...
But i thinck the dvd-key is not correct because when i want to start a backup or
original disk it says it's a dvd !!!
I burned the xexmenu to disk wich strange enough does get seen by the drive as a game
started it and installed the xexmenu to my hard-disk from a usb-stick.

Xexmenu works, games from hd & emulators are working to !!! :) :) :)

Someone has an idea to get my dvd-drive working again.
As i tried 3 different drives giving troubles i thinck the key is still not correct.
