Hi E45 I am thinking about getting A780 box, is is still worth me getting? and will I then get all the channels inc PPV events simply by following your guide and using the DownTool_0927 and Kryptview_A780_09092010 bin file & loader?
ps I am on 02 broadband band which has in built router with an available ethernet port to use, do you think this will be ok?
your help will be much appreciated

yes this will work as long as you have a good signal you will get the big fights on PPV only not the wrestling as these fights have to be paid for

im tryin to get hold of cable im on vista so i need a usb - rs232 i think, but the one i just bought is the wrong one its got pins at end and isnt gonna fit in kv780, on ebay i can buy a lead male one end female other would that work for me like a null cable ?

if you got a disc for it install this first before you plug the usb device in to the pc
Although technically Vista does call the system "Computer" whereas XP referrs to it as "My Computer"
START
Right Click "COMPUTER"
Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like ?USB Serial Port COM # or "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm. Port (COM#) or ?Communications Port? (COM #) )
Choose "PROPERTIES"
Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
also change the baud rate to 115,200 from the default setting of 9600
Restart Windows (If necessary but normally not required)

you wont as thats a rs232, you will need a USB to serial cable for a laptop, i answered you in the other post you asked the question in also

These are the cables you need to flash the firmware.
If you have a computer or a laptop with a 9 pin serial com port which is male on the back all you will need is this,
Female to Female Serial Null Modem Cable which looks like this,
Heres the NULL MODEM CABLE Code L71BT
Make sure you do not buy a Serial RS232 9-Pin Female to Female cable as SG8 has stated below.
they seems to be quite a few people buying this from mapl*ns,
It has to be a SERIAL NULL MODEM CABLE Like the one above!!

If you have a computer or laptop without a 9 pin serial socket you will still need the
Female to Female Serial Null Modem Cable as above and this USB to Serial DB9 Adaptor Converter
to make it fit into your USB port
USB Adapter Cable Code ZP43W
If you have a pc and you are struggling with the usb adapter as above you could add a
PCI serial card which is easily added to you PC and with this all you need is the null
modem cable which gives you a direct link from your box to the pc.

I think I bought the wrong adapter off ebay its a usb female rs232 serial and tried connecting direct to A780 but was not recognised.
So I opened device manager in vista and deleted the usb unknown device and usb root hubs now I get message usb device not recognised even though I have not got the RS232 cable atrtached!
I have now ordered the null modem cable from skyward and will use it with a pc

you need the null modem cable connected to the usb and the other end of the null modem to the box and the end of the usb connected to the pc
you just dont connect the usb adapter direct to the box it wont work like that you need the null modem cable in between both ends of the adapter

Thanks E45, my null modem cable arrived today and I have just uploaded the firmware to the box through pci card from pc, now I just need to scan for channels and see if it works

Hi I have just scanned for the channels and I now have the box working except that I do not have all channels!
I am missing sky sports 2 and 4 and also all the ESPN channels have bad signal and keep breaking can anyone help please?
Im not sure if there are others missing but all I care about are the sports channels so I can watch the footie and PPV for boxing when it comes on.

@ robdo, there are countless threads on here about em and reviews, use the search function above to find them,
@ Jay - the reason your getting this issue, is either your signal is to low or to high, you dont have a min sub from your provider or your cabling is bad and needs to be looked at or replaced, if your signal is below say 75% it causes break up, above 90% will do the same, so check that firstly,
If you dont have a min sub from your provider, your signal will be lowered by them, so this will cause it to,

Make sure that you have scanned on your correct Net Id for your area that is the most common causes of missing channels also as mickah has said bad cable will also lead to missing channels signal and quality must be high 75%

i dont have min subscription so it could be that but il look at the cable first and see if tat works
