So is there a tutorial out there that would enable someone who has the same ISP and TV provider to set up a VPN solely for the cable box of choice, but access the internet with their normal IP address?

not worth the hassle, no one has been pinched and they aint after you the enduser,

@ fintanni, all viewpoints are always valuable and its good to see both side of the debates on whats out there, if we all had the same opinion, the world would be a boring place

Personally I'm unsure thats possible mate. Maybe e45 could shed some light if it's your post he's referring to when spoon etc. was mentioned.

No if you are going to use VPN its for all and not just the box as far as i know tbh i would not bother with VPN

vpn or proxy for that matter. however i would suggest users maintain a dynamic rather static ip address. at least this gives some anonymity
