Using TMPGEnc to convert to SVCD.

Using MyDVD to burn (this program, though much bashed in this forum, has worked fine for me in all other formats).

Once I convert to SVCD and upload the converted movie onto MyDVD, it immediately shows itself ready to be burned. The funny part is that the burning process may take like 30 or 40 minutes to go through, but the end result is that I have a SVCD that only displays the Initial Introduction Page of the Movie (where I can title it whatever I want & have a picture icon in the middle).

Once I hit 'play' on my newly-burned SVCD, it plays about 3 seconds this static intro-page. There is no touring, fast-forwarding, or playing of any other part of the movie. It's like it just burned the wrapper but not the present within.

Again, VCD works fine but is of moderately unimpressive quality.

hmm...I sure thought I did. So, in other words, I should be able to burn an SVCD as easily as a VCD, right? If so, I'll try it again...perhaps with different software...& play around with it more. It's just rather curious that they didn't both work in the same way.

Hey Dela

Give you a little update here. The last couple of days I have been trying to get stuff going here and have gone to the website http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/111846.php

Which has been really good for the AVI to SVCD. Using AVI2svcd program. Leebear rocks on that one.

I have run into a particular movie that has great video and sound when I play in zoom player but when I go to Virtual dub, split the movie and then try to save it, I get the below message. Message I get:

The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format.

Also in virtual dub and Real player I only get video and no audio. Of course everything is set right like Leebear wrote in the above website. I clicked Direct Stream under video and full processing under audio.

I think I might be missing a codec. I read one of your forums where you advised two codecs. It was on a slightly different topic but I went ahead and tried to click on the website with the codecs and there were several things listed there to download that could have been the codec you suggested?

So here is my first question. Is this a codec problem, and if yes, can you walk me through not just the website to download from but the particular key codec. Sometimes these websites have litsted codec for windows 4x, codec for apple, codec for extra.... I know it sounds too simplistic but I just need you to say go here and click on the bla bla bla icon that says this.

Second question is if this is not a codec problem with virtual dub then what is it?

Thanks so much

I dont believe its a cedec problem, i would think that it is actually not compatible with the input format but of course it will still play. Let me ask you, what is it you are trying to do, are you trying to just split the file or decompress the audio or what?

Actually Dela I am trying to split the file so that I can have two sections ready to go before I run them through my AVI2SVCD program. This is consistent with the game plan Leebear laid out in the above website I mentioned in my last reply.

I don't know if you have read that website but everything there is totally the method for how I am try to go from avi movie downloads to SVCD. I am following him step by step and on my first movie it went great but now I can't do the first step with splitting the movie in VirtualDub because it gives me that error. I downloaded another virtualDubMod or something like that. Same erro message there too.

Now I have run into a second problem. When I convert in AVI2SVCD program I am getting error message that says "Read Beyond file."

I don't know what that means! But I can tell you hitting problems over and over again really blows. I am having many more failures than successes.

It seems like all the movies from sharereactor come in with some problem. Either video without sound, sound without video, or files that can't be played.

On the ones that can't be played I am just assuming that my computer doesn't have the proper codec or something, I will deal with that problem later after I learn how to get the movies without sound or without video to work.

So Leebear has game plan. It worked on one movie but now I am running into error message in AVI2SVCD "read beyond the end of file error" and the VirtualDub error I mentioned last.

Hopefully once these two bugs are worked out I will be set to keep moving.

Why can't I burn any VCDs through NERO. I can do it fine with EZCD creator but it has never worked with NERO. Help??

Phantom, when he says avi2svcd, does he mean that little avi2svcd or just dvd2svcd set as avi2svcd? DVD2SVCD is my favourite method for converting :)

Now, when i read that again, I'm still confused exactly why you are selecting "full processing mode" for the audio in VirtualDUB?? That will just decompress it, which you most likely dont need to be done! I'm going to write a new DVD2SVCD thread tutorial soon after I finish the little eMule one. It clears a lot of questions up you see and makes it easier! These kind of qustions are the ones i'll be trying to answer! Your questions are welcome by the way and that goes for everone else who asks them!

hk2npck, do you have nero and easy cd creator on the same machine?? Direct CD running with nero can cause terrible trouble!

What version of Nero do you have, it could be a possibility that its not completely compatible with your burner!

Its the version that came with my burner. It says it won't work with any other one except the one it came with.

BTW, I *did* finally get an SVCD burned & playing properly (though I'm still not thrilled w/ the pic quality).

Here's a big note for anyone using MyDVD to burn avi's to SVCD -- don't use RealOne Player to play it. It simply loops the intro & won't play the movie. CreativePlayCenter (or something like that) plays everything wonderfully!

I'm sorry to admit it here, but I ripped NERO v99 off Kazaa to see if I could get a better SVCD quality out of it. I'll let you know as soon as I can recover my PC from the fires of Mt. Doom.

I dont know if this question goes in this forum or not but could someone please help me? I read here that ps2 can not play vcd or svcd, but i heard that it can play mpeg-2. Is this true? How would I go about making an mpeg-2 disc that my ps2 could read. I have an avi movie with xvid encoding I think....Im really new to all this video stuff. Thank you all very much for your help.

A Ps2 will play mpeg-2 video with a modchip. Actually its called a pss stream movie which you can learn to create at http://www.megagames.com/ps2

Also, ps2s can play divx with the ps2 reality player, good luck on finding a good copy of it!

Well a modchip is required to play ps2 backups! you solder it into your ps2 and it bypasses protection. For more info check out http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/50

I do everything I see on how to burn AVI onto VCD, but I keep getting "Write Error occurred at address 77FCB032 of module 'ntdll.dll' with 00000000." right before I encoded it. Anyone know why or could help me?

BADLUCK, late response i know but the answer to your question is this. in tmpgenc, click option - environmental settings and click the vfapi plug-in tab. right click directshow filereader and raise its priority until it reaches 2. Then try the encoding again!!

maeanneh, If its fake, then no audio or video exists in the file therefore whats the point?? Just use something reliable to download!! Kazaa isnt exactly reliable so if thats where you get movies then dont!!
