Every time when I'm trying to use dvd shrink, when it gets close to the end it will give me an error message. And that DVD Shrink can no longer continue. If anyone could help me with this, It will be much appreciated.

It just says that DVD Shrink has encountered an error and cannot continue. One of the errors said something about overlapping I/O.

hmm, open shrink, click preferences, then click the "File I/O" tab. Uncheck "Enable overlapping I/O"

Actually, I am having the same problem. I'm getting the same error(an error occurred and shrink dvd can not continue), then it says "access denied" at the end of the message. And it does it at the very end of encoding (with like 90% completed). What does this mean? What should I do?

Hi ms_twana,

After you click the "Backup" button in Shrink, you can select to output to a folder on the hard disk, to an ISO image file or to burn with Nero. What did you select ?

ISO file image. When I tried putting it on the hard drive, it worked.

I guess you're running a Windows system with a FAT32 hard disk. There is a file size limit of 4 GB. As an ISO image file contains all the files normally included in the VIDEO_TS folder, it can be as large as 4.37 GB. You cannot create such a file on a FAT32 system.

So either you output to a VIDEO_TS folder (as you did before) or you convert your hard disk to NTFS (see http://aumha.org/win5/a/ntfscvt.htm ).

When I asked for system information I meant CPU speed, memory, and oerating system. If you are using Windows 98 then you are limited to a 4 gig file and as a result you will need to upgrade your oerating system to Win 2000 or Win XP.

Okay, I'm too scared to convert my hard drive. So, how do I burn after I've saved to Video_TS folder or hard drive?

If you are using FAT32 you will only be able to rip to a maximum 4 gig file. There are few to almost no movies that are that small, in fact most exceed 6 gigs. The point is that if you are going to learn to back up movies then you are going to have to either acquire Windows 2000 or XP or if you have either of them convert them to NTFS. If you're unfamiliar with how to do it you can find numerous "how to's" on the internet. Here is a web site that will provide you with some info.

I've gotten it to where it backed up all the files into a Video_TS folder. I have Roxio Easy Creater 6, when I am trying to burn it, How do the files go onto the DVD. Cause I already burned one dvd and It won't read in my dvd players.

Okay! Thank you everyone for all of your help. Just curious, my burner is 8x, is 2 hours a reasonable amount of time for Shrink to do its thang???? I thought 8x was the fastest one. Also, does anyone know if it's possible for a DVD Recorder to burn info? Not on a computer, but an actual stand alone recorder.

Jeremy83, Roxio is a stubborn program. That is why I switched to Nero. Most Roxio burns will only play on a computer that has Roxio. I would use the trial version of Nero and see if you can be sucessful burning your video_ts files.

ms_twana, 8x is your burner speed. It will burn max 8x speed. To do this you'll need 8x media. As far as the 2 hours, that depends on a few things. Your speed of your computer(processor, memory) and the speed of the media that is being burned. On me dell start to finish is around 45-60min. On my gateway it can take up to 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

The thing I'm stuck on is how to you put the video_ts folder into the list of things to burn, and how does it organize it to where it will search on a dvd player.

Do you have to pull all the files out of the folder or, do you have to just place the folder in the list?

Thanks for the input!

Jeremy put the video_ts folder. All the files will be in there.
