Sony releases updated PS3 3.41 firmware, fixes issues

article published on 3 August, 2010

Last week, we reported that Sony's latest PlayStation 3 firmware update, version 3.41 was crashing some consoles and some users simply couldn't install the new update. They couldn't just call it 3.42?

At least they did something about it somewhat quickly...even if they did lie about it at first.

It isn't like you have a choice about the install; it is just like 3.21; even if you don't like it, you are forced to do the update in order to keep the features you already purchased.

I think sony needs to stop making firmwares that end in 1; they seem to cause a lot of issues.

Nuh uh, if they pulled an apple, the would have offered a free case for the PS3 which would supposedly stop the hard drive from moving inside which was what would be causing the errors.

Please note I speaking from my ass, but even apple would avoid fixing any issue at all but would instead enforce the idea that its always the consumers fault somehow and never them.

LOL...my system started overheating about a week after I claimed it had never had a heat issue.

I can't say I have had my system get bricked, but updates have caused problems (other than loosing Linux). I actually had to remove the drive, format it with a PC, and start from scratch after 3.40 came out...it didn't brick the system, but it made it very, very unstable...after I redid everything, 3.40 ran just fine. Clearly something glitched during the update.
