I suppose that is why so many us use more than one method for making backups. The other reason is satisfying our curiosity.

Sophocles, Bigorange,
That was a mouth full. That is the most right-on statement I've heard in a bit.

brobear,

No I am not a moron.

At no time in any post in any thread in any forum did I call you, refer to you as, OR even insinuate that you were a Moron. I dislike anyone putting words in my mouth or falsely accusing me of something I did not say or do. For you to post a reply to a non-event makes me wonder whatever is your problem. If you have had a bad day, lets leave it at home but don't bring it here, to me, I don't have to "take it" from you or anyone else and I won't !

I had no idea of your extensive training and education. I guess what threw me off was your posting in several different threads over a two day period of your extreme difficulties with DVD43 along with your continued complaint that DVD43 couldn't be closed in any other manner than in msconfig. I tried, as I always strive to do, to provide you with some help and guidance in telling you how to close DVD43 by using your right mouse button and how to remove the program from your PC. I was not aware at the time, of your wealth of knowledge, I was only aware that your problem continued over a period of time. Again, I tried to shorten the time you were dealing with your problem. Perhaps in the future, you might include in your posts that you don't care to use your right mouse button and that it is your desire to remove the proggy when the time suits you. There would be no misunderstanding and everyone would be saved the effort of attempting to help you - I would LOVE to have saved myself some unnecessary typing.

brobear,

If you give this matter a little thought you may understand that not being telepathic I have no way of telling the education or experience of the people posting on this forum.
You seem to take exception to my belief that by giving directions so that everyone can understand them I won't have to write them 4 different times.

Edited to remove unnecessary heat -

Heed Praetor's warning, leave off the cheap personal attacks. Once again as a matter of course, I must beg forgiveness of the Senior member.

Fully aware of Add-Remove and registry cleaners. All of which I have and use. A dirty little thing one finds out when looking, remnants of DVD43 are left in the Program Files after removing DVD43. What works for the majority doesn't work for all. Big companies have tech assistance. This new little freebie has no history of testing and no technical backup.
Whether you realize it or not Brobear, that initial statement, whether you intended for it to or not, was inflamatory -- nobody was even close to suggesting anyone else was a moron. If you meant it in the manner in which you explained it and a later post then this is just a bad choice of words (just imagine if I started a thread that said "WTF Brobear?! I'm not a friggen idiot!" -- same idea, nobody said anyone was an idiot but its still confrontational/inflammatory. Pete does have a good point in that there's no way to ascertain the degree of expertise you have.

You have my sympathy
I see where you're coming from Pete but let's not escalate this to one them low-heat flame wars where both parties are in conflict but without either party directly attackin the other.

Afterdawn is a place where people can share ideas and have conflicting (radically so in some cases) opinions. A little tolerance on both your parts would easily get over this misunderstanding -- because that's what it is. Now lets just all get along, no name calling, no finger pointing, no nothin :)
