Has anyone had any luck with any blank Media besides Verbatim for 360 back ups? I have read and the only universal thing I have read is cheap media is no good with most people calling memorex out as being no good for back ups. Anyone have any luck with any other brands besides Verbatim?
Thanks

I've had some luck with JVC. I've since returned back to verbatim media. There was a special about 3 weeks ago on newegg and I bought 2 50 packs shipped for under $90. What you've read about memorex is correct. I've never had any luck with them. Some members on here have great success with them, but they're not for me. I've also tried TDK, and had about 20 bad burns out of 50. I've never had a bad burn with a verbatim unless I've shut my laptop by mistake and put it in sleep mode.... Good rule of thumb, stick with verbatim if you can get them.

I've tried Verbatim, Windata and Memorex. Used Verbatim exclusively when I first started burning games, then switched to Memorex. Had 9 successful burns in 50 tries, so I tried Windata. Never had a problem with them coaster wise, but my DVD drive dies a few months after switching to them. Got a new system, went back to Verbatim, no problems.

I use the Amazon Basics DL DVDs and have never had a problem. Not one coaster in over 100 disks, and no issues with them deteriorating thus far.

this should be fun .. I can see the results now..
Philips.. may be ok.. IF they happen to be optodisk manufacture
Memorex .. wouldn't waste my time burning them
Ridata.. won't even make a working standard d/l dvd
TDK .. use them to put your coffee on.. don't even bother putting your burner through the torture.. will be lucky if any even complete a burn
Optimum.. yeah right.. cmc grade c media.. usually overprint maxell or memorex
Windata .. seen all kinds of disks overprinted with this.. had a spool of Ty's once.. they were ok.. next spool were usual cmc crap
Cheap generic branded disks are always overprint or quality control borderline batches.. verbs work out cheaper in the long run because you don't throw 30% away...
Why not try Gigatain.. those are pretty nice.. best cd's I have ever seen.. not sure how they work in a 360 because I will only ever burn verbs for the job.. No point pissing the customers off is there?

Ill try to get my hands on the Gigatains, I ordered Amazon Basics (Ricoh) and got some windatas from a site called microcenter for like 12 usd per 20. So far I have spent about 70 bucks. And Ps355528 could be right all the disk could be coasters. But I'm curious are Verb's really the only thing that works? I have read a few people have had luck with brands that others say dont work, so whats the catch? the burner? was it where they were manufactured? BTW anyone know who the MGR of the Actual Xbox media is?
Again thanks for the feed back guys

Tip if your gonna use Gigatain, make sure you get the ones with the white printable front. The silver ones are pants.

Biglo30 posted a link to a site where he gets his Phillips from, that works out to be like 63 cents each, thats pretty cheap! thanks I bookedmarked the site.

i think it depends on the burner and what speed,,i cant burn verbs at 2.4x on the LG,it will not work, all my burns have to be at 4x,and since memorex is the cheaper media, makes sence to me,,yes verbs are the best, but cost wise,,il stick with memorex

I've gone through 100 memorex discs on an LG burner at 2.4 with only 3 coasters. Used Verbs for the longest time but tried memorex since they are cheaper. I have most of my games installed so the disc drive doesn't struggle reading the discs either.

Yeah I do the same as well, I just install the majority of my games on the hard drive, mainly because I hate how loud the xbox is without doing so.

ok so first test Memorex on Lite on Burner with Black Ops and got about %50 through and got an I/O error and failed. Next Memorex on Maddog Burner With Black Ops Force Unleashed 2 and red dead redemption. All three burns went flawless all three played on a 360 Samsung drive flashed with Ixtreme 1.61 via JungleFlasher. Will update when I get other Media.

Correct me if Im wrong but last time i checked Memorex doesn't make their own dvd's. One stack might be ritek and the next stack could be tayo yudens. You can use dvd identifier or something similar to see what kind you got.
*typically when one name brand company makes some of their product for some other brand that's called 'Generic'
