i still want to know where modking found it states no more cuts are necessary. i have yet to see that. in fact, i did see a post stating cuts are still necessary....

It must be a dongle sort of device instead of a regular usb otherwise anyone could just rip it and make it free. I wonder if this will work with the dongles used to jailbreak the ps3 and if someone can reverse engineer the software they have on it to make it free like the psjailbreak...

This has nothing to do with PS3. Its a usb device. The nice thing is the no cuts part. No cuts will be wonderful.

i'll be on board with a pre-order, but i have researched everywhere i cant find and i have not read anything saying no trace-cuts, infact if you watch the video closely there is an option to use a probe, why is that on there if there is no need to open the case? could you provide a link to the source that says no trace cuts required?

Hi, The new SLIM liteon drives (9504 and 0225) does NOT require cutting at all, Lizard can UNLOCK both and retrieve you the key without cuts. For the previous liteons we still on research and if a reliable method appear that not require cuts we will implement it straight away and issue a firmware update. Meanwhile we are encouraging to use the UART patch for LT+ when you update your drive, so you can read later with single probe and save you to do cuts next time (or buy a board to install). It is as safe as LT+ is, nothing more nothing less.

like i said earlier and several other members, there has been no statment via team maximus that this product will erase the need to make cuts on drives. in fact, they have said it does still require cuts. look back on page 1 or 2 where bhetrick posted their quote stating such.

Here we go again.
This was already posted in the other thread, but Maximus himself already stated, quite clearly, that he never said cutting would no longer be required and that IT IS STILL NECESSARY to cut traces.

letsmod (Ed from VGC Repairs) has started that rumor that no cutting was required awhile back, but since then will no longer respond and anyone's questions regarding "no cutting", but will still address other questions.
That's when Maximus himself stepped in and confirmed that, as of now, cutting is still required.
I've been following that whole thread and in the last couple pages everything comes to light.

Just look at the web site. http://www.360lizard.com/website/index.php No where on the site does it state no more cutting traces. If it were possible, it would be plastered all over the site, not to mention the news spreading across the other modding forums like wildfire.
Having to cut traces is a BIG deal so if a work around were found, don't you think you would have read about it already?

There's no knocking Maximus. He's given the community a lot of nice tools and hardware. And I'm sure the Lizard will be quite useful for some people. It's just not for the mainstream community.
The problem is that no cut rumor was started awhile ago and you know there's going to be some who order it and not know the truth about it. Some of us have the cash to blow on new toys like this, but the majority is still the younger crowd who have a hard enough time scraping up $8 for a one month LIVE card.
So dropping $100 on something like this and then finding out that it's no different than just buying a ~$12 sata card will just send them over the edge.
After they start ranting and carrying on, you soon end up with the Lizard having a bad reputation. Look at all the attention it's getting already. The majority being negative. And it's not even released yet.

this is nothing new, you can already retrieve the dvd key from ONE of the slim drives using the app by germania. No cuts or soldering for that drive but people want to know about the other liteOn drives.

the one im watercooling its allready modded with a 7000 series drive,,the 0220 drive im waiting for the soft unlock,just waiting for the christmas rush to be over so i can get back to finishing it,,
