Play PS3 games on your iOS device, using everyAir

article published on 25 February, 2011

Team Pandaelf has released a video today showing off PS3 games playing on an iPhone using "EveryAir." The group says the configuration will allow for PS3 gaming on all iOS devices, including the iPad. For those with PSP handhelds, EveryAir is similar to Remote Play. Here is the Q&A posted by the group: Q: What?s the overall picture for how this works? A: The trick is to connect ... [ read the full article ]

But ... why? Beyond being a neat little trick to show off, I don't see myself, or many others playing their ps3 via an iOS device. It's fun to give it a shot though at least.

My initial impression was THIS IS NEAT! Then I asked myself, can this really be done? After reading the article, oyi, it's basically using the iPad as the monitor... It's stupid really, WHY?!?! If the iPad has a mini HDMI or regular HDMI port, this whole thing can be avoided, duh.

wouldn't it be cool if you could play your PS3 games on an IOS device from anywhere though?

Yeah, provided that the PS3 has to be on all the time... I was thinking about the games purchased from PSN. If the iPad can link to those games without the PS3 being powered on, that would be cool. Otherwise, I don't see the point, it's not like people got nothing else to do with the iPad.

Peace!

Well of course the PS3 would have to be on, but I imagine they could find a way to wirelessly turn it on from the ipad. AS long as you don't flip the switch off on the back of the PS3 I think it could be done

...and then Apple will shut it down. They've already established they won't allow anything in the Apple store that plays code not approved by Apple (ie, Flash, the C64 emulator, etc)

Connect via USB if I'm not mistaken... but that means you have to carry the controller with you at all times. Like I've said WHY? It's not even cool after you actually sit down and think about it.

Peace!

You could use the interface they mentioned in the video where it uses gestures or virtual controls, or even a third party usb attachment for the ps3 controller or hack the bluetooth (does the ipad have this??).

And why wouldn't you want to sit and be able to play your ps3 games anywhere with an internet connection?? it would be better than remote play on the psp atleast seeing as the screen is pretty crap and you cant rlly do much else with a psp? the ipad is currently a more capable machine than the psp, so is the iphone 4 due to the retina display and the better processor and both would be good for remote play purposes. and you could hack an app such as remote play from the psp OS could you not???

Why can't a remote play app be reverse engineered from the psp OS? I mean if homebrew can be hacked onto the psp then cant it be hacked from it??

Cool is one thing, but having fun is another... You might attract some people with the fancy iPad PS3 setup, but when you try to execute the actual control, it will suck. Remote play on the PSP sucks and that thing has one analog stick. Virtual control? It's going to suck...

Peace!

There must be a way to connect a controller to it, i mean you can hack the ipad right?
You can create drivers for a ps3 controller to work with pc games right?
So you should be able to make a driver for a hacked ipad or even just the connection program right?
and you should be able to hack the bluetooth (if it has it as i assume it does)on the ipad and connect the controller that way or make a third part usb attachment for the dock at the bottom for a usb reciever,

so you should be able to use a controller with it (in theory)

Of course it can be done, that's not the point though... I'm just saying, when you get it all done, down to the final fine point, all you going to get is just anther short "wow" and that's it... Try to play on the iPad for 10 minutes and see if the interest is still up. Within that 10 minutes, I guarantee you something will be broken, let it be lagging control or stuttering video streaming or rusty music. Simply put, it can be demoed for cool factor, but it can't be trusted for few hours of gaming..

Peace!
