article published on 25 May, 2011

"Skype's full potential hasn't been realized yet," he said in an interview at the e-G8 forum underway in Paris. He suggests that Microsoft could push Skype into higher places if they expand it more into the mobile territory and if they make dramatic improvements to the ... [ read the full article ]

This deal will help Microsoft attract more Internet users, but narrow the gap between with Google remains to be seen.

Skype won't exist once this deal is set in stone.

It'll be wiped in favour of the live platform, as live does everything Skype does and more but it doesn't have the user base that skype has.

I expect many people to go else where now that Skype is officially dead.

A typical statement from a young, naive, newbie computer user with little information about the world of business.

They do fail and it's quite a lot really.

Xbox failed, first time around.

Games for windows, is trying to make the whole PC market into a Xbox 360 live clone, it's only it's 5th or 6th attempt now, and everyone complains about it btterly even the mags.

I've read reviews of games that use GFW service and the game couldn't be run because the GFW had failed and wouldn't let the game work at all, so the review for the game was zero and these have been AAA class games.

That project right now only has a 10 to 20 thousand people on it and if you were a share holder you'd class it as a fail due to the amount of money wasted trying to make a Steam type program just for the sake of trying to wipe out steam.

Zune was killed off completely a month or 2 ago, in favour of their phone.

Bing isn't doing so great either, it's only boosting market share because MS make it the default web search in IE8 and beyond.

MS is only large because of Windows OS and the Office package, if Office hadn't taken over from wordpress (can't remember the name) that wouldn't be large and the newest version hasn't sold all that well for MS, I think it lost market share.

Live has been trying to be the new facebook/skype program that ME would force everyone into using.

MS shares are only around $20 each today, in their hay day 20 years ago, they were over $80 each.

Now you have rumblings of the share holders wanting balmer gone and to get rid of all the little projects that Bill started up.

And I was around when windows 2, 3 and 3.1 had a failed.
