I think the newer versions of ps2 (v. 7-10) won't work with Splinter Cell.

well i cant even play the original. After loading my profile "SAM" and selecting "NEW GAME" it says insert a PS2 format disc. Not sure which mod chip i have, it's a no swap one, but im not sure what the name of it is.

With the backup, the same thing happens as the original.

I remember with the first Splinter Cell, i had to eject the disc (backup) just before loading a saved game, and putting the disc back in a few seconds after, maybe something similar???

Any help would be nice! Thanks guys

DVDrick just released a patch for Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow NTSC. It's only a "limited" patch because it only works for v1-6 PS2. Haven't tried yet but as soon as I get home I will(even though I have v9-10 PS2)and post my results.

I've tried the patch on a v9 PS2 with SMD 2.0 / DVD loader and still no luck. Has anyone else got this game working yet on a v9? I'm about to give up! Can't get past that O.

Is 5v3 NO PN a disc or just an option? Also Does anyone know if that would work on Freedom Fighters? Thanx.

I have PS2 v7 with an old magic mod chip (I beleive a magic 2 or 3.1). I tried to backup SC:PT witht the same problem as many: I got to the single player choice screen then after the choice it went black and stay like that.

That was the case with both the original and the backup.

Here is how I made it work, this may only be true with this modchip but let me know it it works with other:

-Go on standy (red led on reset button)
-Press eject button to open tray (do not start your system with reset button it will not work)
-Wait for the navigator/system config screen to appear
-Press eject button to close the tray
Then you will get
- the ubisoft screen (nothing to do here)
- splintercell PT screen (nothing to do here)
- esrb screen (nothing to do)
- splintercell screen with 'press start' notice in lower left corner (Press start very quickly)
- sunset screen (Press X very quickly)
- singleplayer choice screen (Press X very quickly)

If I Press the buttons (start, X, X) on the last three screens quickly (as soon as they appear) then it proceeds to the game.
If I waited to long then I go to a black screen forever.

The good news is that the game runs well after that as opposed to the first Splinter Cell where we had to
breifly open and close the tray at each save (with the Magic chip). no need for that in this one

Let me know if it works for the other chip.

By the way this seems to be a new protection approach on PS2. The codebreaker v8 I bought does not start
unless I deactivate the Modchip. The same symptom, it gets in a blank screen.

Hope this help,
soso

By the way I forgot to say that I beleive this is only good for no-swap mod chip. I do not beleive it will work on swapdisk.

I had the frezeing "o" problem too with my V7 PS2. Here is how I got it to work.

Action replay Max >> Swap Magic DVD >> Dvdloader >> X >> NO PN >> Swap magic DVD >>> Splinter Cell.

Works every time now.

sosotiit,

hi i have the same problem you had with the splinter cell game with the red screen saying "insert a ps or ps2 disc". I tried your way but this still happens. I can get past the new game screen but after i load the profile "SAM" i get this red screen. any idea how i can fix this? I have the no swap chip also...

and for the first SC, i had to eject the dvd briefly bfeore each save so i think we have the same mod chip.

maybe im not putting it in standyby properly, how exactly do you do this?

thanks

Hi AKY,

If you had to briefly open/close with the first SC then you have a Magic or a Messiah. Those lucky with the best a DMS3 do not have that problem.

The stanby by is simply to close your Ps2 using the reset button pressed until light on it comes red.

Now to the real stuff: first of all we do not seem to have the same problem because I am getting a black screen forever and you are getting the pink screen with insert a Ps2 disc.

I have the strong feeling you a have a bad burn.
If you get to the SAM screen you are passed all modchip check.
Two probable cause:
1-You have different modchip (maybe you should try the open/close trick at that point), but I really doubt this is it.
2-Your burn is faulty, either bad burn (try a burn at 1X on Nero or alcohol 120), brand of dvd not liked by the PS2 (have you changed brand of dvd), or you original was dirty when you did your backup).

You should try with your original to make sure

Let me know

Hi AKY,
Just read your previous post on the fact your are having same problem with original and backup.

I am surprised to see that an original is giving the oink screen, Is it scratched or damaged.

I would try to deactivate my modchip with the original to see if the original is the cause

To start with modchip deactivated with the Magic chip do the following.
-put the game in the tray
-Go on standby
-press reset and keep it pressed for 10 second.
the game will start as if you had no modchip in.
(that is the method to deactivate most mod)

If it does not work with your original after that, then that is the problem.

Hey wallinuk. I have read this thread that you seem to have rectified and I am in the same boat as you. Would you mind helping me with the same file (5v3 NO PN) by emailing it to me as well? I have PM'd you with me email. Any other thoughts that made Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow easier to work on a PS2 version 7 would be appreciated. I too have the swap magic 3 by the way. E

I have a version 6 PS2 and I burned Pandora Tomorrow using DVD Decrypter and it played fine.I didn't even use a cd loader.I almost finished the getting into the embassy part with no problems.is there a point in the game that will not work without the cd loader like 007 everything or nothing?
