Movie studio Nu Image has started a mass lawsuit against alleged downloaders of the 2011 movie 'Conan the Barbarian.'
The suit against 2165 individuals, was filed last Friday. The move follows Nu Image's failed attempt to sue 23,322 downloaders of 'The Expendables,' the largest such P2P lawsuit in history. The former suit was dismissed within months, but it appears that Nu's lawyers have ... [ read the full article ]

If you were an idiot to download this to begin with you should pay the $3K... I actually thought this had a chance to be a new twist on the Arny movie from the 80s, so I took my kid to see it; what a let down. This toilet torpedo is more for the SyFy channel than anything else & would be better for the wait as little or nothing would be edited except commercial pacing.
Besides, if they beat the "Expendables" (much better movie) this butt chunk really doesn't stand a chance. Trying to make up for DVD losses in court still won't prove for/against piracy or the fact that blanket trashing people's good names on ISP downloads = guilt.
Quit equating piracy to piss poor craftsmanship & your ability to maximize the fleecing of your customer base. People 'will' work for milk for their children. But when you charge too much for it, the bastards will sneak in in the middle of the night & steal the whole damned cow.

I snagged it off of ****** /w ssl encryption via a vpn. Now the only thing I'll have to beware is how terrible the film is when can be bothered to get around to watching it.

I guess thats the only way they will make any money off it.
Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Lets renegotiate them.

This has been on my drive for a month or so. I haven't felt the need to watch it yet.
Three Musketeers looked much better!
PS: Random thought. How bad is your movie if it isn't even watched for free?
Oh, Im sorry... Did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?

BoxOfficeMojo says the movie cost $90 million to make and brought back only $48m globally. No wonder they need this suit.

Robert E. Howard would be spinning in his grave if he could see the monumental pos they made with his character (Conan with a lazy eye?)
$3000 x 2195 = $6,495,000...probably wouldn't cover a 2 minute scene done in CGI and they wonder why they're losing money.
I wonder how the industry would react to moviegoers starting lawsuits against them for putting out a crappy movie? Anyone who purchases a ticket should be entitled to a refund or issued a pardon for downloading it

It seems some people will download any piece of garbage just for the hell of it.
I just purchased two new Blu-ray disks @ $10.00 a piece. One is the 1971 movie Le Mans which is the anamorphic 70mm wide screen version. It is not worth having movie distributors coming after you when most recent releases are not worth a plug nickel.

Losing money!?! It's still going to be the lawyers make out in this deal! Not to make matters worse in my whine fest, but the kid & I even had to watch this POS in 3D because the regular film had already played out that evening & I wasn't coming back into town to see it any time soon.
Talk about "should have saved the money". I'm with Pastor, it should have sat on my HDD & grown moss for a while.

I watch movies on Friday night.
Since I got this movie I have passed it over for,
"In Time", Pretty cool but had major plot holes. Fun.
and
"The Three Musketeers" Alot of fun. Followed the original up until the "AIRSHIP" showed up. Still, had a lot of fun watching this move. (and of course, it had Mila) :D
I will most likely skip it again in favor of something else.
One Saturday afternoon I'll be doing housework and I'll want to put something on that doesn't demand my attention.
That's when I'll "get through" Conan!
When is Red Sonja coming out???

There's a few okay movies to watch like, "Drive" Kumar and maybe a couple more. Nothing really worth purchasing.
What happened to, "Red Tail" at the box office? The movie was supposed to be great. Maybe it was too close to the "Tuskegee Airmen." which is the second movie about them. Too much CGI? There's still plenty of P-51-D's to go around without making the movie look phoney.
Jeff
It will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray very soon.

Before there was HD at least in the US and I was a lot younger I poached cable from what is now known as Comcast. Comcast came over my house and wanted to test the cable to see what was going on. They can tell by the load if you are pirating a signal. I said, "no you can't come inside." They gave me the option of signing up or else.... Today you will get fined and will have your arse dragged thru the mud.
It took along time for the FCC to establish a HD standard which EU and the far east had for years. Now I have a Sat connection which even though is not tiered quite yet gives me up to 1080p, Dolby B audio and 40 Gbit fiber optic DSL internet connection.
Can't say I miss NTSC (National Television System Committee) or what we used to call, "Never The Same Color" very much.
Chances are pretty good people will also get caught pirating cable.

So, even if all of these lawsuits are settled, they'll still be down money.

Yup, still have to pay the court, gas money, lunch, the LAWYERS, cab fair, cleaning bills & then put what's left (net profit, remainder) toward the bottom end of that bowl bouncer.
It still won't even come close to breaking even.

Until Follywood returns to producing content that promotes family, community, love, and...at least once in awhile; faith (pick your favorite),
Then I hope consumers steal every piece of junk they put out. Until STD's are a prerequisite for employment in that God forsaken hell!

Wow, never thought of that angle.
Not a fan of the Hollywood lifestyle so you are glad people steal their crap?
Kinda funny when you think about it. You want more family, community love and faith... and until then just STEAL what you want.

People whining about the quality of this film seem to be overlooking one rather important point - downloaders are being sued for downloading a film. Whether the film is any good is entirely irrelevant.
Or maybe there should be a sliding scale? The higher-rated the film the higher the fine.
Idiots.
