23-year-old British student Richard O'Dwyer will be extradited to the U.S. to face multiple copyright infringement charges, despite never having been to the country.
The former owner and creator of TVShack's plight will set an unfortunate precedence in the UK, as others in the future can likely face similar charges. O'Dwyer, according to UK law, is completely innocent, but he will likely ... [ read the full article ]

So this news that one government is handing over a CRIMINAL to another government is surprising to you?
they are not cracking down on a common criminal they are taking a british citizen who has not broken uk law to another country and imprisoning him for running an internet website which the american government didnt like.
heres a thought for all you americans out there.how would you feel if an american citizen got charged for possesion of a small amount of drugs for personal consumption and they extradited them to bali and executed them.bet you'd all be going nuts.
Again, lets reiterate that the British government is assisting with this. So it's not a matter of the American government doing this or doing that. It's a matter of governments working together. And this is nothing new.
Also, how does your example of "a small amount of drugs for personal consumption" compare to someone charged with making a quarter-of-a-million dollars off of illegal activities?
Call me when you extradite Sgt. Robert Bales for mass murder, you hypocritical American megalomaniac.

Sgt. Robert Bales is in jail.
In the country where he committed the crime? How about the abu ghraib guards? How about the guys that took a piss in corpses? And where was Bin Laden trial? At the end of the barrel? But hey, don't let pretending you stand for freedom and justice stop you from 'the American way' and all that heavy flag waving. We all know your country is just the most democratic in the world, and we should all be honored to serve you.
You have to pardon me, sometimes I forget only American laws are valid in the world. And even those can get suspended if you decide to execute someone on the spot because he was 'a really bad, evil, man' and a "danger to freedom". Americans, Cowboys forever! YEEEHAAAWWW AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

Actually, it goes "Yippey-Kai-Yay, Mother fucker".
We cant extradite that muslim piece of shite Abu Qatada but yet we can with this guy who was just trying to make a buck and to be honest you have to give him credit for his ingenuity and savvy.
I doubt he even made a tenth of what they claim!
Political correctness gets worse in this country every day.
One day it will all come down on our heads and there will be no one to blame but the UK government and its greedy politicians snuffling as they do at the trough of the public purse!
No wonder the Americans laugh at the UK and our ridiculous legal system - I would far rather have Americas (flawed though it may be) than our woeful system.
Qatada has been held for six-and-a-half years, more than any other detainee in modern immigration history, while fighting deportation to Jordan.
But he will be released from the maximum security prison where he is being held after applying for bail when human rights judges in Europe ruled he could not be deported without assurances from Jordan that evidence gained through torture would not be used against him.
He has cost taxpayers more than £1million in benefits, prison costs and legal fees.
The problem starts with lawyers and ends with everyone of us learning the basic precepts of law for ourselves, its really not that hard.
The very first thing that you HAVE to sink into your heads is that there are actually 2 LANGUAGES BEING SPOKEN in legal proceedings. In America we speak English but there is also the language lawyers use called LEGALESE. It looks like English, with some Latin thrown in, but the definitions have been rewritten to mean something different.
Also People need to understand basic concepts of law, such as:
If there is no injured party there can be no crime. You have a right to confront your accuser (the person whom you supposedly caused harm to their life, limb, or property). Governments will pass laws that are unlawful. Most of the time they don't have jurisdiction. This is how I beat driving without a license. In the USA a license is required to 'drive'. The term 'drive' actually only applies to those involved in commercial activity. If you are using your own personal vehicle you are actually not a 'driver', at least not in the legal sense. So therefore the court does not have jurisdiction over me in this issue since I was not participating in 'Commercial Activity". Its actually quite simple.
As for this guys predicament he needs to stand on the jurisdictional issues.
