An even slimmer PS3 is coming

article published on 6 July, 2012

Thanks to a new filing by Sony with the FCC, it seems there is an even slimmer model of the PS3 coming, one that will likely be the final iteration of the popular console. If the ps2 is any indication, there will be one more after this...an ultra small version that sells mostly in 3rd world countries.

I wonder if they will upgrade the HDMI port to 1.4? That would be a good upgrade to fully support 3D blu-ray and not have to sacrifice DTS-HD or Dolby True HD sound. They did an HDMI upgrade with the original PS3 slim. I think the fat had 1.2 and they put 1.3 in the slim so it could bit-stream the audio. If they do that, that would again make them a very good console to buy over a set top box.

With my tv and current slim I can play games and watch 3d video if I want. I had to unselect the 3d option on games.

Sounds pretty sweet. I have the original fat 80GB version. Looks like it's time for an upgrade
