article published on 9 September, 2012

Unveiled just last month, Sony has put the Xperia S tablet up for sale today. Far too expensive? My Transformer Prime cost more than this.

And this is an amazing move for Sony, showing that they're at the very least willing to make smart changes and have lower prices (which is something Sony rarely does).

At those price points, it's going to have a very hard time vs. both the cheaper Android tablets (especially the Nexus 7), as well as the iPad family, especially with the advent of the new 7" iPads. The only real advantages it has over the Nexus 7 are higher resolution and a microSD slot.

"the new Xperia S will actually be able to compete with other leaders in the space"

As far as I'm concerned, they can't compete using anything that runs Linux...it would be useless if they removed Linux support and they already know that they can get away with it.
