After encrypting my original dvd, after it tells me to install a blank dvd for burning, I get a message under creating directories that says "there is not enough space to burn this compilation to this disc. Please insert another disc that has enough space." I've tried different disc's w/ no success. I'm useing ritek g04 media and shrink in full disc mode. I am setting menu's and extra's at lowest custom compression values and leaving the main movie in automatic. The bar below the toolbar is completely green. I've tried this several times w/ the same results. I am not performing deep analysis could that be the reason. I am open to suggestions. Ty in advance any help will be appreciated. I'm about ready to go back to useing my dvdxcopy xpress software but I would rather have all the menu's and extras.

Yes. Deep Analysis makes sure that DVD Shrink makes files that meet the DVD target size. Without Deep Analysis it just estimates that it will meet the DVD target size based on it's Quick Analysis. It is often wrong because it doesn't know the actual compression that really will be needed.

Do you have Nero installed? If not, are you telling Shrink to burn with Nero? (Edit >> Preferences >> File I/O)

Thanks Veblin, took forever but did the trick. BTW do you know how to copy menu's and extra's w/ dvdxcopy xpress? I know there's a way just not sure how. I think you have to download rf version and then find a tool to rip the movie. If anyone knows that would be cool, let me know please. If not thanks again Veblin. xpress is faster and comparisons show it does a better job than shrink. Hey shrink was free, Im not looking a gift horse in the mouth, just want the best of both worlds.

Mort81...
This proceedure should also work (and take less time) if quality is not an over-riding issue. Once you have the menu's and extras at the lowest compression, change the main movie to CUSTOM also. Then back off the 4464 MB on the green bar to 4430 ... or even 4400 if that doesn't work. You won't lose that much in quality. The "not enough space" tends to be more of a drive issue. Also, make sure you have the latest firmware upgrade, as this sometimes solves this problem.

You check the box that says "Entire Disc".

There is no box that says "entire disc". Oh and thx Doc I'll try that next time. I'm pretty sure I've got the latest f/w. I've got a lite-on ldw 451s upgraded to a ldw 851s w/ f/w GSC2 which makes it a 8x dvdrw. Its burned error free ever since as long as I stay with quality media (ritek ridata g04).

There is on mine :-) ... What version of Xpress are you using? I see it between the options tab and the start button.

My version came w/ my dvdrw and is for lite-on burners only. I don't have anything between the start and options buttons. I think I need the rf version then find the tool so I cam rip, but I can't find the tool and don't want to download the rf version till I do. Thx a bunch for your input.

Hey Mort81...
Did you have a chance to try Shrink with the backed off green bar?

Thanks, thats the tool but now I don't find the upgrade from my std edition to the deluxe version. I see I can still purchase it but too much money for me. Used to be able to up grade for $20. Studio 321 just about done ya know. I probably better leave things alone. Thanks for everything.

That's good news. I think the rest will go OK. Also, be sure to check on a firmware upgrade.
BTW, a new version of Shrink is due out within the next 2 weeks. I've seen some reports on the beta version, and they say it is really good. It is also faster. I think you'll like the quality a lot better than DVDXCopy.
