Rather than rehash what they unveiled, please read our earlier article here: Microsoft unveils Xbox One.
What Microsoft did not reveal, was how unfriendly the console will be to the average consumer.

I will not be buying one. I just now bought an xbox 360 and a ton of games I have downloaded. In my opinion they have got to be the dumbest people in the freakin world to pull this on its loyal fanbase. Im done and will not ever get another console if this is how it is going to be.

The fine people at Steam said all my games will work on my next Pc and I will not be charged for reinstalling them, when I Upgrade my Pc later this year. :-)
I do not miss paying for Microsoft's Billboard game system. Microsoft must believe gamers cannot live without them.
You can buy a Pc around 500.00 that runs most title very well so why people are still buying consoles with more restrictive environments and more expensive games kind of defies logic.
So I guess they deserve whatever Microsoft does to them.
I believe that is the logic Microsoft is using to great success.

I think Microsoft has been having too many sleepovers at EA's house -- they're picking up some bad habits. I'll pass on this console.

I'll be passing on this one also. The thing that irritates me the most aside from not being able to easily lend and borrow games is that your forced to use the kinect; too intrusive. I've had both previous versions of the xbox, but it looks like it will be a PS4 next time if I get a console at all.

Well hopefully you'll fair better with Windows 8...Or pay a premium for a PC that will run Windows 7...Here's a tip if you're willing and able to do some of the work yourself. Checkout cowboom.com I have had pretty good luck picking up late model used PCs on their auctions. Make sure you check the manufacturer's web site and verify they have Windows 7 drivers for the machine you want to bid on. Or maybe you'll like Windfows 8? I can't stand it. Seems like they take your high end pc and turn it into an awkward tablet...

None of this matters as long as the games are good and integration works like they showed.

90% of the people commenting would disagree with you. It is time the consumer teach Microsoft a lesson so they will cater to our desires or the flip side is we hope they fail...

I'm sure that Microsoft has the means to emulate the Power PC chip on the Xbox One. The problem might be successfully (or efficiently) emulating the graphics chip and other system components.
I think we have all become spoiled by the backwards compatibility that has been present in systems lately. Remember, we didn't start to see backwards compatibility until the PS2, GameCube and 360. If you really want to play your old games, just keep your old console. I do.

It's absolutely certain MS want you to pay the full price again for a second hand disc... yes???
This and not having to leave your disc in after install explains the daily verification process.
What xminus above says about Steam and backward compatibility is true but, face it, they have has the single owner thing down from the get go. MS look at Steam and think naturally that their punters will accept it too, and they probably might... eventually.

So they are packaging Kinect with the Xbox causing it's price to go higher.
So now I have to pay for it when I don't even want it?.

Yeah, and who knows if you need stadium lighting for this version too?

Yep. Kinect 2.0 is included. In fact it's required as you use Kinect to do things as simple as powering on the console. I've read that the new Kinect is greatly improved. It can see multiple people, at varying distances (even very close) and can work in near darkness due to it's use of the infrared light that it emits.

So far it seems the majority of responders have made up their mind that the Xbox One is not for them.
MS will have to do use some artistic persuasion to prove to their consumer base that there is even a shred of value in a box aimed at stealing $ out of you every which way imaginable. Given the fees on used games, must run XBL, must need internet, must repay for games on different user profiles: where is there value to be had?

The only way to get their attention is to have massive stocks of Xbox's left on the store shelves after Christmas. That would scare the shit out of Ballmer. They have no respect for their customers and we should just walk away. We all have multiple devices to use and play games with and are in no great urgent need to upgrade, just let the next xbox sit in the stores for six months and then we will be back in charge.
It's our money let them work for it and do as we tell them to!

Personally I would wait for official announcements & clarification rather than rely on this kind of reveal PR.
There's too much unsaid & what is said - usually by a 3rd party and not Microsoft - is often confused.
I don't find backward compatability a problem, I have a 360S, but I know some would love it.
Neither do I find mandatory game installs a problem as I always installed 360 games to hard drive to give the machine an easier time & chop the noise.
The used game thing is what I'm getting at about confused messages, we'll see.
Meanwhile as 1 UK journo said in one of our dailies, nobody is especially listening to the sort of people who write screens of criticism on the various forums & blogs.
They are (usually) a self-selecting group of critics untypical of the wider market & often with an agenda one way or the other.
Just saying.
(and no that wasn't me taking a pop at Andre either)

Ibuypower.com has made my last 2 machines for me and I couldn't be happier. You select each part starting from the case on and it's tailored to what you want. Plus the prices whip anything your every going to find in a store. I spent $672 4 years ago and it's still kicking strong, I still haven't had to add more memory yet from the 4gb
