I saw this someplace else but not here. I wanted to make a PAL DVD watchable on my home DVD player. First step was ripping and compressing with DVD Shrink to the hard drive to extract the VOB files and not a disc image and strip the region coding. Then I went into the IFO files with IFOEdit and changed all the places I saw PAL to NTSC (you just click on PAL and a menu pops open and you then select NTSC). Do this to every IFO file and there may be more than one instance of the PAL text in each IFO. Burned the DVD, tested it out and it is perfect. Now this may not work for every PAL DVD out there and your DVD player may not like playing back the forced NTSC disk since no real frame rate conversion ever took place. I have a Sony DVP-NS425P which has a PAL enable hack out there so maybe it can play the PAL signal fine if I just trick it. It's worth the cost of a blank to try this I think though.
