Microsoft used a PC with Nvidia to demo Xbox One games at E3, not dev kit

article published on 16 June, 2013

CinemaBlend has reported that Microsoft did not use a dev kit to demo its Xbox One games at E3, instead using high-end PCs. The console maker was using an HP built Windows 7 system with a Nvidia 700 series GTX GPU. Making that more notable, is the fact that the upcoming console will use a mid-range AMD GPU, a far cry away from the Nvidia used. It is also odd that the company did not ... [ read the full article ]

Oh, my. Does Ballmer & Co. have a collective death wish?!

Either that, or their marketing folks collectively have somewhat less intelligence than a dead squid, lying on a dock in the sun.

Why would I want to play an emulated Xbone game instead of the pc version?

Because PC versions have no local split screen play, but if they did I would drop my console gaming and switch to PC.

Pc games also lack a lot in joy-pads control however recently this has just starting to change.

On the side note

Considering the consoles are x86 surely it could be possible to hack it so a PC could run the OS like we do with mac osx(hackintosh).
Or we could create a program like wine just like Linux uses to run windows software/games.

The PS4 is looking more appealing as time goes on.....

Perhaps Microsoft should bring Bill Gates out of Retirement since Steve Ballmer is sucking as CEO.

There's barely a handful of newer console games which support split screen and it's getting rarer and rarer.

Lack of joy pad support on pc; there is no lack. For the games which don't support it, pad emulators are used.

Disagree halo, gears of war, call of duty, lord of the rings and these are form the top of my head.

I can't afford 3-6 pcs for my gaming group, we use split screen and lan gaming alot that is 2 xbox 360's linked.

More adding everyday so your wrong there, only limits on a few recent games that pushed the graphics to the maximum preventing split screen but next gen removes that limit.

Plus I play alot of part games on my wii in my group.

A joypad for PC gaming? That's like the opposite of evolution, the thing I hate most about consoles is the shitty controls AND the stupid split screen. There's a reason pro tournaments are still Counter-Strike or likewise games

I know right? It's literally like they are trying to lose everything Microsoft has build in the past 30 years.

I'll stick my foot up your ass.

I'm extremely disappointed. In my perspective, this was the final nail in the coffin. I have been an xbox enthusiast ever since the REAL XBOX 1. XBMC is epic, but due to all of the foul play this new console secretly holds, that's it folks PS4 is the way to roll. I was on the PSX and jumped platforms and two generations later, those that left the PSX the exodus will be huge, the prodigal son so to speak will return as we all return to Sony and grab the PS4. I only hope that enough 360 titles are made through out the next following year because the future for the xbox seems dismal.

This reminds me about the Dreamcast during its dying struggle to stay afloat. The xbox one might die prematurely before putting up a fight. Unless a system update eliminates the requirements of: disc authentication, online checks, and always connected kinect (privacy breach) listening and recording everything that the lens captures. I'm paranoid about that and everyone should be concerned as well. This box has no right to be within our homes and none the less a penny spent. Sorry, but microsoft dropped the ball big time.

Well, if the EU's position that the XBone's region-locking is actually illegal in the EU (as currently implemented) stands, then that may very well be the death knell.

What the XB1 should really look like:

Yes, that's a couple of GTX-780s in there :)

EDIT: Yet to mod the cabling.
That's a Silverstone GD05 case.

Looks like you are building a helluva HTPC!...I mean SpyBox 1!
*EDIT* It'll never work unless you plug in the Kinect sensor, but I'm sure you knew that.

Just to reinforce just how the PC is better, local play can be done via LAN, no internet required and much better than split screen (does require multiple PC's and games tho...). There are 1000s upon 1000s of PC controllers out there but if you prefer a console controller PS3, 360, even Wii (I think) all have drivers to allow you to use them on a PC. Any game that can play on a console could do better on a well built PC.

You can literally plug a wired 360 controller into the USB and it will work no fooling around required.

That ability right there was is the clincher it makes owning a console a waste of money & time, that don't mean modified consoles are crap i own enough of em,well lets face it there's no comparison between the pc & console the pc kik's ass even when using a controller & those slim line pc's are just as portable & upgradeable if required graphics wise

Buy a PC for a 800 bucks and ditch the DRM, always on crap and the inability to play older games.

MS has really pissed me and many others off with their Stalinistic ways with the new useless XBox One.
