Several months ago I was using a DVD writing program that was giving me problems(dont know the name of program).

The program would freeze after the writing had started, then afterwards the DVD+RW would act as if it were a DVD+R...non erasable.

This happened to Sony and a Fujufilm DVD+RW, using a HP DVD writer.

I've tried to re-write on these same "bad" DVD+RW discs using InterVideo DVD copy program, which will re-write on newer DVD+RW discs(same brands) that were not used with my older "faulty" burning program.

Is this a fixable problem or should I give up on these 5 DVD+RW discs?

I am having the same problem. I bought a yamaha CD writer and with it came a CD-RW 48x. That is the fastest one out there. Although now I cannot empty the DVD-RW. There are 5 read only files on there and no matter what I try I cannot fix it. It's not easy finding a 48x DVD-RW out there.

Knowledge is imminent...

santi,

Thanks. I DL that software, but it wouldn't format/erase my disc...the status box reads :

-no media present in drive-

??? I don't know what the deal is w/ that( and yes, the DVD+RW is really in the drive)

Hi,

If the discs refuse to format despite using several apps I'd imagine the discs are shot :)

...yeah, that's what I'm thinking...I just didn't want to trash $20 worth of DVD+RWs until I was sure, but it's time to give up I think.
