but im stuck at installing the maxdrive drivers..
ive tried using versions 1.05 1.20 1.31 and 1.40
of action replay...
but it seems all the inf files are the same...
whenever i edit the file and try to load it in device manager it says it doesnt contain information from my hardware ors oemthing
HELP
I think that v1.05 will wok whit your usb stick,so try as first v1.05 and install your maxdrive (the inf file) using usb view replace the "idvendor" and the "idProduct" of your own usb mass storage, and then it can be installed.
So you must edit the maxdrive with your usb stick hardware information to let it work.
If v1.05 doesnt work uninstall everything and try another version.
And sometimes i forgett to save the file so save it then it must be work.

The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, Make sure it's Designed to work with Windows 32-bit Operating Systems.
I may just pick up a different usb on the devices that work on the compatibility list
Whats your operating system?
make sure that you choose the right one with usbview, if you have another hardware's on your pc?
If you have windows vista look at page: 10

Okay, even tried to go into the Windows registry in Vista and fix the driver, no joy. I'm pretty sure whoever posted that they got it to work modifying the xbreader.inf file was doing it in XP and "assuming" it would work in Vista. Bottom line, don't plan on using Vista. I finally found an XP box and moved the files first try, no problems.
Also an aside - nknave SID installer is the sheet. A monkey could install the softmod using it. Kudos!

hmm i realy dont know how to help you from know, the kingston usb drive must be work with the maxdrive?
There's no other way...
Your problem is with this message:the folder doesnt contain compatible drivers.
That you have entered wrong information about your usb drive.
try with kingston copy the: IDVENDOR & IDPRODUCT (only the last four digits)
Paste to your .inf file, just like the picture on the first page.
SAVE the file, go to computer management choose from dvice manager your usb mass storage ,click update driver,Browse my computer and then you must choose it by your self whit windows xp i think there s an option like "have the disk" or something
"Browse" Go to "Program files/Datel..... choose the xbreader.inf..
Just keep trying im here new too, have done this in 3 weeks with a sd memcard. I know how annoying this is but after your softmod i think its worth, my dashboard is now XBMC its really cool XD

For those who have the recent revisions of the SanCruzer 4GB thumb stick with ReadyBoost technology, I have managed to get it to work with Xbox and Action Replay 1.40 :)
The trick is to make the thumb stick small enough so that Action Replay can recognise it as a "memcard". For me, I forced it to be just a little under ~512 MB.
How do you reduce the size you ask?
Well you have to....[ to be continued in part 2 :) ]

You're correct in a sense however it's a special kind of partition.
A normal partition simply won't work as xbox will formatted it back to it's full capacity.
Good try buddy! :)

Ok here's part 2 as promised :)
As pointed out by Mr. Cyprusrom ( the smarty pants ;) )you need to partition you San Cruzer 4GB thumb stick to make it smaller.
The partition must be of type cdfs (CD Filesystem), it's the only way I know that hides it completely from the Xbox, and it must be performed using "Universal Customizer". Only this application will allow you to create a cdfs partition size of 3500 MB - this size require to reduce the stick capacity down to ~500 MB. Universal Customizer will accept your custom ISO image file to build a cdfs partition and format your stick with it. To create you custom ISO (made up of any file you want as long as it totals to 3500 MB), I recommend using ImgBurn.
It does take awhile for the format but the end result is a San Cruzer 4GB thumb stick that is compatible with XBox and Action Replay 1.40.

Hi guys, maybe someone can help he. Im following the guide so far but some of the "screenshots" pics are not working.
In particular, the step where i have to edit my Venor id and Product id in "xbreader.inf"
GUIDE: "Scroll down to 'Devices' and change the 'VID' and 'PID' numbers to correspond with your YYYY + ZZZZ numbers"
Since the screen shot is missing, and I cant see the corresponding Y's & Z's, I dont know which row to edit.
There seems to be 9 rows of vID's and Pid's?

Ok I cant seem to get any devices to get recognized in AR to load the exploits. ( WHere "memory card" is supposed to in white font")
deveices used:
Verbatim 1GB usb (Xbox does not recognize, says "damaged") (Also Not recognized in AR)
Buffalo 2GB usb (Xbox recognizes but not in AR)
Sandisk Sansa 4GB mp3 player (Xbox recognizes AS A *MEMORY CARD but still not in AR)
* Is this normal? When you first plug the device to the xbox it usually says " The memory card wasn't working properly and has now been erased". But with the sansa It recognized it as a memory card. Well I went along and followed the other steps according to the guide but AR still would not recognize it.
If all else fails I may just try buying/borrowing a compatible device thats listed in the master list.

I just went out and bought a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 2GB, it is labeled as "working" in the master list.
But Now the Xbox wont even recognize it, formatted it to fat 32, same thing. Xbox says its "damaged".
My my previous attempts w/ other usb's were atleast sucessful w/ the xbox recognizing it, But had trouble w/ the AR reading it.
Now I cant even do anything w/ these Sandisk Cruzers.

If xbox format your sandisk cruzer you must directly use it with AR (untouched), my problem was with the Versions of AR try all versions.
V 1.05 works for me all the other versions dont.. so try
My nokia works with xbox and AR so if you have an phone with memcard you can try (with usb cable).

Yes after the xbox formats the drive, I go directy to us it w/ my pc and AR. I did do all of that, as the guide instructed. I only formated it to fat/fat32 on my pc b4 putting it in my xbox after the previous methods failed for me.
I will try different ver. of AR w/ my other usb sticks that failed w/ it previously. But cant w/ my sandisk cruzers as I cant even get the xbox to recognize and format it.
